How we picked

We only included phones gadgetsoch has already reviewed that were listed in stock on Amazon.in when we checked on 17 October 2026. One caveat: stock of the linked iPhone 16e variant was intermittent that day. We then weighed battery, display, durability, update promises and the limitations named publications reported. We did not score or rank the phones. Older models are included only where our reviews found they still make sense, with their remaining update support flagged.

Entry-level picks (4G and 5G)

POCO C71

A simple 4G phone for first-time users, parents or a backup handset. The 6.88-inch 120Hz screen and 5,200mAh battery are its strengths, and POCO promises two Android upgrades and four years of security updates from Android 15. It keeps a 3.5mm jack, FM radio and a dedicated microSD slot. The catches are no 5G, HD+ resolution, slow 15W charging (91mobiles measured about two hours from 20% to full) and average cameras.

OPPO A3x 4G

Built for buyers who drop their phones. It has IP54 splash protection and MIL-STD-810H shock testing in a slim 7.68mm body, plus a 5,100mAh battery with 45W SUPERVOOC charging. The trade-offs are no 5G, a basic 8MP rear camera, an HD+ screen, and 4GB RAM with slow eMMC storage on the linked 64GB variant. It launched in 2024 on Android 14, and GSMArena lists an Android 15 upgrade, so check OPPO’s current update status before buying.

OPPO K12x 5G

The tougher 5G option in this tier. The Dimensity 6300 phone pairs a 5,100mAh battery with a 45W charger in the box, IP54 protection and a 1.4-metre drop-test claim from OPPO. FoneArena found it lasts a day of heavy use and about two days of typical use. The limits are a 720p LCD, a mono speaker, average low-light photos and no NFC. It launched on Android 14, and FoneArena reports two Android updates and three years of security patches.

Moto G45 5G

Its appeal is clean software, 13 5G bands with VoNR, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm jack and microSD expansion. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 handled everyday use and casual games well in Digit’s testing. It has aged elsewhere: an HD+ screen Digit found hard to read in bright sun, only a 2MP macro beside the 50MP main camera, and IP52. Its one promised upgrade, Android 15, has already arrived, and security support runs to roughly August 2027.

Samsung Galaxy M34 5G

The budget route to an AMOLED screen. You get a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED at 120Hz, a 6,000mAh battery, a 50MP main camera with OIS and NFC for Samsung Wallet. It is a 2023 phone, though: the Exynos 1280 is dated, charging is 25W with no charger in the box, and there is no official water resistance rating. It has reached Android 16, leaving one more major upgrade under Samsung’s promise, with security updates pointing to around mid-2028.

Mid-range picks

Samsung Galaxy A26 5G

The pick for people who keep a phone for years. Samsung promises six OS upgrades and six years of security updates, listed until 31 March 2031. It adds IP67, Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both sides, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, an OIS main camera and selfies GSMArena called excellent. The weak points are a single speaker, 25W charging with no charger in the box, modest outdoor brightness in GSMArena’s test and average gaming. Compare it with the newer Galaxy A27 5G.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G

A sturdier Samsung with a metal frame, Gorilla Glass Victus+, IP67, stereo speakers and microSD support up to 1TB. GSMArena rated its battery life very good and found the Exynos 1480 held near-peak performance under stress. Charging is 25W with the charger sold separately, and it weighs 213 g. It launched on Android 14 with up to four OS upgrades and five years of security updates, a shorter runway than the Galaxy A56 and A57.

POCO X6 Pro 5G

Still quick for gamers and video watchers. The Dimensity 8300-Ultra with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage held about 80% of its peak in GSMArena’s long CPU test, and the 1.5K AMOLED supports Dolby Vision. A 67W charger is in the box. It has aged on battery size, water resistance (IP54 only) and video stabilisation. It launched in January 2024 on Android 14 with three Android updates and four years of security patches reported, pointing to support until around early 2028.

Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

A slim, tough phone with a premium feel. The 1.5K quad-curved pOLED was bright and colour-accurate in Digit’s measurements, and the phone carries IP68, IP69 and MIL-STD-810H testing. The Indian model’s 5,500mAh battery and bundled 68W charger are strengths. It is weaker for heavy gaming, Indian reviews report no NFC, and the curved edges can cause accidental touches. Motorola promises three OS upgrades and four years of security updates from Android 15.

Motorola Edge 60 Stylus

Choose this only if you will use the built-in pen for notes, signatures or sketches. Beyond the stylus, it offers a 120Hz pOLED, a 50MP OIS main camera, IP68, 68W wired and 15W wireless charging, a 3.5mm jack and NFC listed for India. 91mobiles found palm rejection unreliable and low-light photos poor, and its 5,000mAh battery trailed rivals in PCMark. Updates are limited to two OS upgrades and three years of security patches, as reported.

realme GT 7T

The battery and gaming pick of the mid-range. A 7,000mAh battery, a 120W charger in the box and IP68 plus IP69 make it a strong all-day phone, and Smartprix reported nearly two days on a charge. The Dimensity 8400-MAX ran BGMI at 120fps in MySmartPrice’s test. It has no telephoto camera, memory card slot or headphone jack, and reviewers rated low-light photos average. Update support is unconfirmed, as published reports conflict.

Premium picks

Motorola Edge 70 Pro

An upper mid-range Motorola with premium touches: a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery in a 6.99mm body, 90W charging with the charger included, IP68 and IP69, and a 1.5K curved AMOLED at up to 144Hz. It runs Android 16 with up to three OS upgrades and five years of security updates. There is no telephoto lens or wireless charging, reviewers note a plastic frame, and 91mobiles found thermal management weaker than it could be in long gaming sessions.

Apple iPhone 16e

A simple way into the iPhone range in a 128GB configuration. You get the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence support, IP68, a light 167 g body and Apple’s rating of up to 26 hours of video playback. The compromises are one rear camera with no ultra-wide, a 60Hz notched display, USB 2 speeds, 7.5W Qi wireless charging and no charger in the box. The newer iPhone 17e adds MagSafe. Confirm stock and the seller, as availability was intermittent.

Samsung Galaxy S24+

A 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED screen in a 196 g body, with a 3x optical telephoto, 12GB RAM, 45W wired and 15W wireless charging and IP68. Samsung promises seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from its 2024 launch. The Indian model uses the Exynos 2400, which throttled under sustained load in FoneArena’s test, and DXOMARK rated its battery life below average. There is no charger in the box and no microSD slot.

Samsung Galaxy S25+

A lighter, faster Plus model at 190 g and 7.3mm, with a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz display and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. It has IP68, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 7 and UWB, and Samsung India lists security updates until 31 January 2032. GSMArena found battery life better than the S24+. Charging stays at 45W with no adapter in the box, the ultrawide lacks autofocus, and performance dips under long heavy loads. The Galaxy S26+ is also on sale.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

For S Pen users and zoom photographers. It pairs a Bluetooth S Pen with a 200MP main camera plus 3x and 5x telephotos, and Android Central rated its anti-reflective Gorilla Armor display highly. Battery endurance was strong in reviews. It is heavy at 232-233 g, charging is 45W, the 12MP ultra-wide is older hardware, and Android Central criticised its PWM dimming. Samsung’s seven-generation promise points to support until around early 2031.

What to check before you order

  • Variant: confirm RAM, storage and colour in the listing title

  • Charger: the Samsung models and the iPhone 16e ship without one, so budget for a compatible USB-C adapter
  • Network and SIM: the POCO C71 and OPPO A3x 4G are 4G only, and on hybrid-slot phones a microSD card takes the second SIM position
  • Compatibility: several phones here lack a 3.5mm jack, so check your earphones
