Is the OPPO A3x 4G worth buying? It suits buyers who want a tough, slim, simple phone for calls, WhatsApp, UPI payments, YouTube and social media, and who do not need 5G. Its strengths are a large 90Hz screen, a 5,100mAh battery with 45W SUPERVOOC charging, IP54 splash protection and MIL-STD-810H shock testing. Its weak points are the basic 8MP rear camera, the entry-level Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 chip, slow eMMC storage and the lack of 5G.
The Amazon.in link in this article opens the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model in Nebula Red, listed as “Oppo A3X 4G (Nebula Red, 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage)” and in stock when checked on 17 October 2026. It is not the OPPO A3x 5G. A 4GB + 128GB version and an Ocean Blue colour were also sold in India, so confirm the exact variant on the listing before you order.
This guide draws on OPPO’s published specifications as reported by GSMArena, 91mobiles, Notebookcheck and The Tech Outlook, checked on 17 October 2026. Gadget Soch has not used the phone hands-on, so this is not a lab test. Where sources disagree on a detail, we say so or leave it out.

Design and durability: the main reason to consider it
Durability is the A3x 4G’s strongest selling point. OPPO advertises MIL-STD-810H compliance, a set of US military test methods that phone makers use to show resistance to drops and shocks. GSMArena notes that this label does not guarantee the phone will survive extreme conditions. Still, it signals that OPPO built this body with everyday drops in mind.
The IP54 rating means the phone is protected against dust and against water splashes from any direction. That covers rain, a spilled cup of chai or wet hands. OPPO also promoted resistance to liquids such as coffee and soup, according to GSMArena’s launch report. IP54 does not mean the phone can be submerged, so keep it out of buckets, pools and the washing machine.
At 7.68mm thick and about 186 g, the A3x 4G is slim for a phone with a 5,100mAh battery. GSMArena lists Panda Glass protection on the screen.
Display: big and smooth, but not sharp
The 6.67-inch LCD runs at up to 90Hz, so scrolling through Instagram, WhatsApp chats and web pages looks smoother than on a 60Hz screen. OPPO quotes a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits in high-brightness mode, which should help the screen stay readable outdoors in Indian sunlight.
The trade-off is resolution. At 1604 x 720 (HD+), the panel works out to about 264 pixels per inch on a screen this large. Small text and fine detail will look softer than on a Full HD+ phone. For YouTube, calls and social media this is acceptable. If you read a lot of small text or watch films on your phone, a sharper display is worth paying more for.
Performance and storage: built for light use
The Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 is an 11nm chip with four Cortex-A73 cores running at up to 2.1GHz, four efficient Cortex-A53 cores and an Adreno 610 GPU. It is an entry-level chip. Expect it to handle calling, messaging, UPI apps, maps, video streaming and casual games. Heavy games and multitasking will feel slower than on newer chips.
Two details matter more than the chip name. First, the linked model has 4GB of RAM, so apps you leave in the background are more likely to reload when you return to them. Second, storage is eMMC 5.1, an older and slower standard than the UFS storage used in many rival phones. It affects app install and launch times. With only 64GB on this variant, a microSD card will help if you keep many photos and WhatsApp media files. 91mobiles lists support for cards up to 1TB and describes the slot as hybrid, which would mean using a card in place of the second SIM. Check the listing or the box if you need two SIMs and a card at the same time.
Battery and charging
The 5,100mAh battery is a little larger than the 5,000mAh norm in this segment. A low-resolution LCD and a modest chip are not power-hungry. We could not find an independent battery test of the A3x 4G to quote, so we are not giving a screen-on time figure.
Charging is a clear advantage over many phones in this class. OPPO rates the phone for 45W SUPERVOOC charging and claims a 0 to 50 percent charge in about 30 minutes. Rivals such as the Redmi A4 5G (18W) charge more slowly. Confirm that a compatible charger is in the box, as listed on the Amazon page or the retail box.
Cameras: the weakest area
The rear camera is a single 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus and an LED flash. Notebookcheck mentions a flicker sensor on the back as well. There is no ultra-wide lens and no high-resolution main sensor. It is fine for documents, bills and daylight snaps, but expect limited detail indoors and at night. Video tops out at 1080p at 30fps on both cameras.
The 5MP front camera is adequate for video calls and casual selfies. If photos are a priority, rivals with 50MP main cameras, such as the Redmi A4 5G and Moto G45 5G mentioned below, are worth comparing.
Software, network and connectivity
The A3x 4G launched with ColorOS 14 based on Android 14, according to The Tech Outlook, and GSMArena lists it as upgradable to Android 15 with ColorOS 15. Because the phone launched in 2024, check OPPO India’s software update information for its current status before you buy.
This phone has no 5G. It supports 4G with VoLTE on both SIMs, and 91mobiles lists LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 8, 38, 40 and 41, which include the main bands used in India. Other connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired earphones. There is no NFC, which does not matter for UPI QR payments in India but rules out tap-to-pay with cards.
Who should buy it and who should skip it

Buy the OPPO A3x 4G if you want a simple, durable phone with fast charging for a parent, a student or a field worker. It also works as a dependable second phone.
Skip it if you want 5G, take a lot of photos, play demanding games or plan to use the phone for many years. The 4GB + 64GB configuration is also tight for heavy app users. The 4GB + 128GB version gives more room.
Alternatives worth comparing
OPPO A3x 5G
The OPPO A3x 5G keeps the same 5,100mAh battery, 45W charging, IP54 rating, MIL-STD-810H claim and 8MP rear camera. It swaps the Snapdragon chip for a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with 5G support and raises the refresh rate to 120Hz, according to GSMArena. If you like the A3x design but want 5G, compare this model first.
Moto G45 5G
The Moto G45 5G uses a 6nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 with 5G, adds stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 120Hz screen and a 50MP main camera, and uses faster UFS 2.2 storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery and slower charging than the OPPO, and only an IP52 splash rating.
Redmi A4 5G
According to Xiaomi India’s specification page, the Redmi A4 5G has a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 5G chip, a 6.88-inch HD+ 120Hz screen, a 50MP main camera and a 5,160mAh battery. Xiaomi lists 18W charging support and an IP52 rating. It also promises two years of OS updates and four years of security updates on HyperOS.
