The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is a 6.77-inch AMOLED Android phone built around a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a 5,000mAh battery. It is aimed at people who want a distinctive design and useful zoom without paying flagship money, and the short verdict is that it is a well-rounded but not powerful phone whose main selling points are the 3x zoom camera, bright screen and clean software.

This article is based on Nothing’s official India product page and on GSMArena’s published specification sheet and review pages, all checked on 29 October 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing. Where I quote test figures such as brightness, battery score or charging times, they are GSMArena’s measurements and are attributed as such.

The Amazon.in listing used here is titled simply Nothing Phone (3a) Pro 5G, with no RAM, storage or colour in the title. Nothing’s page lists 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB options, and Grey and Black finishes. Check the variant on the listing before you order, because this article cannot confirm which configuration the link opens.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: buyers who want a telephoto camera, a bright 120Hz AMOLED screen and a distinctive glass design in a mid-range phone
  • Skip if: you want the highest ingress protection, wireless charging, a charger in the box or the best raw performance for the money
  • Key strengths: 50MP 3x periscope camera with OIS, loud stereo speakers, bright display, 50W wired charging, Essential Key and clean software
  • Key limitations: IP64 only, no wireless charging, 4K video not available on the zoom camera, uneven speaker balance and a Power button that sits in an unusual place

Nothing’s India page confirms the 6.77-inch AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, a 50MP periscope camera, a 5,000mAh battery and the memory options, and also markets a 20GB RAM booster. The rest of the table comes from GSMArena’s specification sheet, so confirm any detail that matters to you on the listing.

Design and build

According to GSMArena, the phone has a glass front and back with a plastic frame, and three LED light strips on the rear with 26 addressable zones. That Glyph lighting is Nothing’s visual signature and is used for notifications and indicators. The reviewer also praised the new glass back and the Essential Key, a dedicated button for Nothing’s Essential Space feature. The flip side, listed in GSMArena’s cons, is that the Essential Key’s placement moved the Power button to a spot that takes time to get used to.

At 211 g and 8.4 mm it is a fairly hefty phone. The rating is IP64, which means fully dust tight and protected against splashes. GSMArena lists competitors with higher ingress protection as a drawback. For everyday life, IP64 covers rain and spills, but it is not a swimming-pool or submersion rating.

Display

The 6.77-inch AMOLED panel runs at 1080 x 2392 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit colour. A high refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother, and 10-bit colour helps gradients look cleaner. In its lab measurement, GSMArena recorded 766 nits at the manual brightness slider and 1,307 nits in maximum automatic mode, calling that comfortable outdoors even in sunlight. It also found more than 30 nits of difference across the panel at 200 nits output and described the uniformity as not particularly great.

GSMArena also reported that the panel supports 30, 60, 90 and 120Hz, but high-refresh gaming did not work for most titles it tried. The best result was PUBG at 90fps on a 90Hz setting. If you play competitive games at high frame rates, keep that in mind.

Performance and software

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is an octa-core 4nm chip with one 2.5GHz and three 2.4GHz Cortex-A720 cores plus four 1.8GHz Cortex-A520 cores. GSMArena’s pros list includes strong performance with no thermal throttling, while its verdict says the phone is not a powerhouse in any capacity. Both can be true: it should be smooth in everyday apps and casual games, but it is not designed to compete with higher-tier chips.

The phone launched on Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.1, and GSMArena lists up to three major Android upgrades. Nothing’s India page does not state the update policy, and its navigation points to a newer Nothing OS version, so check the product page or listing for current software and update terms. GSMArena also highlights the unique software design with many custom elements, which is a draw if you like Nothing’s dot-matrix look and a lean feel.

Cameras

This is the headline feature. The main sensor is 50MP (1/1.57 inch, f/1.9, OIS), the telephoto is a 50MP periscope-style lens at 70mm equivalent (f/2.6, OIS, 3x optical zoom) and the ultrawide is 8MP. A periscope telephoto matters because optical zoom keeps detail that digital cropping loses, which helps with portraits and distant subjects. GSMArena’s pros list singles out strong all-around camera performance, especially the zoom camera.

The limitations are clear. The 50MP zoom camera does not record 4K video, according to GSMArena, and rear video tops out at 4K at 30fps on the other lenses. The front camera is 50MP and records 4K at 30fps. I did not see scored image-quality comparisons, so I make no claims about low-light or night photos beyond the reviewer’s summary.

Battery, charging and speakers

The battery is 5,000mAh with 50W wired charging. In GSMArena’s battery test, the phone scored 13:37 hours in its Active Use Score, which the reviewer called solid, even if not overly impressive. Gaming and web browsing scores were weaker and could have been better, in the reviewer’s words.

Nothing claims up to 50W with a PD and PPS charger, and GSMArena’s spec list quotes 50% in 19 minutes and a full charge in 56 minutes. In the reviewer’s own test the phone never drew more than 30W, reaching 33% in 15 minutes, 60% in 30 minutes, 50% in 23 minutes and a full charge from zero in 1 hour 6 minutes. The reviewer called this still decent, not spectacular. Charger choice may affect results, and GSMArena says there is no charger in its review unit’s box.

The stereo speakers earned a Very Good loudness rating, but the reviewer noted an imbalance because the earpiece acts as the second channel, and said the bass is slightly weaker than on the Nothing Phone (2).

Who should buy it

  • Zoom-camera fans who want a telephoto lens without moving to a flagship
  • People who enjoy Nothing’s design language and lightweight software
  • Buyers who want loud speakers and a bright, smooth AMOLED screen for video and social media
  • Anyone who is comfortable buying a charger separately

Who should skip it

  • Heavy gamers who want sustained high-frame-rate play
  • Anyone who needs wireless charging or a rating higher than IP64
  • Buyers who want 4K video from every camera
  • People who want everything in the box, since GSMArena’s review unit did not include a charger or case

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Nothing Phone (3a): per GSMArena it shares the Pro’s chipset and 6.77-inch AMOLED display with almost full feature parity, but has a 2x zoom camera in place of the 3x periscope
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Lite: a cheaper Nothing phone with a Dimensity 7300 Pro chip, 33W charging and a 50MP main camera, but no telephoto lens and an IP54 rating per GSMArena
  • Nothing Phone (4a): the newer model, with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, a 6.78-inch display and a 3.5x periscope camera per GSMArena

What to check before you order

  • Network bands: GSMArena lists 5G and eSIM, but I did not verify India band support
