The Logitech MX Mechanical is a full-size wireless keyboard with low-profile mechanical switches, a smart backlight and the ability to pair with up to three devices over Bluetooth or the included Logi Bolt receiver. It is a strong choice for people who type all day, switch between a laptop, a desktop and a tablet, and want a quieter mechanical feel than a typical gaming keyboard. It is not a gaming keyboard, and its rated battery life drops sharply when the backlight is on.

The Amazon.in listing linked here is titled as the full-size MX Mechanical in Graphite with Linear switches. Logitech sells the same keyboard with Tactile Quiet and Clicky switches, and the listing’s own technical details give the switch type as Tactile while its model field reads Linear. Check the switch option shown on the Amazon page before you order, because the feel and sound differ.

This article is based on Logitech’s official product and specification pages and the Amazon.in listing data, checked on 17 October 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing, so we make no claims about how the keys feel in personal use.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: writers, coders, analysts and office workers who want a full-size mechanical keyboard with a number pad that moves between Windows, Mac, iPad and other devices
  • Skip if: you game competitively, want hot-swappable switches or custom keycaps, need a compact layout, or hate charging peripherals
  • Key strengths: three-device Easy-Switch, Bluetooth LE plus Logi Bolt receiver, proximity and ambient-light backlight, broad OS support, USB-C charging, Logi Options+ customisation
  • Key limitations: about 15 days of rated battery with backlight, 828 g and 434 mm wide, Logi Bolt does not work with older Unifying receivers, switch type must be checked on the listing

Choosing a switch: Linear, Tactile Quiet or Clicky

The switch is the biggest decision with this keyboard, and it is also the part most likely to be mixed up on a listing. Logitech describes the three options like this:

SwitchLogitech’s descriptionSuits
LinearSmooth, uninterrupted key travel with minimal spring forceFast typists who dislike a bump, shared rooms
Tactile QuietA tactile bump with less noiseMost office users who want feedback without a click
ClickyAn audible click with tactile feedbackPeople working alone who like strong feedback

Linear switches, as on the variant linked here, have no bump to tell your finger the key has registered. Some typists prefer that smooth glide; others miss the feedback. Tactile Quiet is the safe middle option. Clicky is the loudest and the least suitable for open offices, video calls or a shared bedroom. Logitech’s page says all three are quieter than typical mechanical switches, but it does not publish actuation force or travel figures.

Because these switches are low profile, the keys sit closer to the desk than on a standard mechanical board. The Amazon.in listing pitches this as better ergonomics. In practice, a lower keyboard usually means less wrist extension, though many people still benefit from a palm rest. The switches are not marketed as hot-swappable, so you cannot change them later.

The smart backlight, and what it does to battery life

The MX Mechanical lights up when your hands approach and adjusts brightness to the room’s lighting, according to Logitech. You can also pick from five effects (breathing, contrast, wave, random and reaction) in Logi Options+ or with a Fn key shortcut.

The trade-off is battery. Logitech rates the keyboard at up to 15 days on a full charge with backlighting, and up to 10 months with backlighting off. In other words, the light is by far the biggest drain. A sensible routine is to keep the backlight on only in dim rooms and plug in the USB-C cable for a few minutes when it is low. Logitech says a 15-minute charge gives a full day of use.

Multi-device and multi-OS use

This is where the MX Mechanical earns its “Master Series” label. It pairs with up to three devices and switches between them with dedicated Easy-Switch keys. For example, you could use slot one for a Windows office laptop via the Logi Bolt receiver, slot two for a personal MacBook over Bluetooth, and slot three for an iPad.

Logitech lists support for Windows 10 and 11, macOS 10.15 or later, iOS and iPadOS 14 or later, Android 8.0 or later, Linux and ChromeOS, with basic functions working without software. Logi Options+ on Windows and macOS lets you remap the function row and Fn keys, adjust backlight effects, set app-specific profiles and check battery. With a compatible MX mouse, Options+ also enables Logi Flow for working across computers.

One compatibility note matters for Indian offices with older Logitech gear: the included Logi Bolt receiver needs a USB-A port and does not work with Logitech’s older Unifying receivers. If your laptop only has USB-C, you will need an adapter for the receiver, or you can simply use Bluetooth.

Design and build

Logitech lists the full-size MX Mechanical as 433.85 mm wide, with its other two dimensions given as 131.55 mm and 26.10 mm (including keycaps), and a weight of 828 g. That is a substantial footprint, so measure your desk or keyboard tray if space is tight. The top case is low-carbon aluminium and the graphite plastics contain 45% post-consumer recycled material, according to Logitech.

The full-size layout with an integrated number pad is useful for spreadsheets, accounting and data entry. If you rarely use the number pad, the MX Mechanical Mini saves space and keeps your mouse closer, which many people find more comfortable for the shoulder.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Who should buy the Logitech MX Mechanical
Who the Logitech MX Mechanical suits, summarised from this review.

Buy the MX Mechanical if you spend long hours typing, want a mechanical feel that is quieter than a typical gaming board, move between two or three devices during the day, or need a number pad for spreadsheets and accounts.

Skip it if you want a gaming keyboard with gaming-focused features, prefer switching switches and keycaps yourself, need something light enough to carry in a laptop bag daily, or simply want the cheapest reliable wireless keyboard for occasional use.

Alternatives worth comparing

Logitech MX Mechanical Mini: the same family in a compact layout without the number pad, aimed at smaller desks and a closer mouse position, according to Logitech.

Logitech MK270r: a basic full-size wireless keyboard and mouse set with a number pad on a single USB receiver. Logitech lists no Bluetooth and no backlight, and rates the keyboard at up to 36 months on two AAA batteries.

Portronics Bubble: a compact, quiet multi-device option with Bluetooth 5.0 plus a 2.4 GHz receiver and up to three devices, per Portronics. It uses 78 silent, low-profile keys in a tenkeyless layout. See our Portronics Bubble keyboard review.

Things to check before buying

  • Switch type: the listing title says Linear, but its tech details say Tactile. Confirm the switch shown in the selected option, and check the box label when it arrives
  • Size: this listing is the full-size model. The Mini is a different product
  • Layout: the listing states an English QWERTY layout with 104 keys. Check that it matches the layout you are used to
  • Ports: keep a USB-A port free for the Logi Bolt receiver, or use Bluetooth
  • Adobe offer: the listing title mentions a free Adobe subscription. We could not verify the terms, so read the offer details on the listing before relying on it
  • Support: the listing gives Logitech India’s toll-free customer care number as 1800 572 4730 (9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday). Keep your invoice for warranty claims and confirm the warranty period on the listing

Yes. Logitech lists macOS 10.15 or later and iPadOS 14 or later, and it can be paired to up to three devices at once, switching with the Easy-Switch keys.

How long does the battery last?

Logitech rates it at up to 15 days with backlighting on, or up to 10 months with backlighting off. A 15-minute USB-C charge gives roughly a full day of use, according to Logitech.

Is the MX Mechanical good for gaming?

It is designed for productivity rather than gaming, and Logitech does not market it with gaming-focused features. It can be used for casual games, but competitive players are usually better served by a dedicated gaming keyboard.

Can I swap the switches later?

Logitech does not market the MX Mechanical as hot-swappable, so choose the switch type carefully before buying.

What is in the box?

Logitech lists the keyboard, a Logi Bolt USB receiver, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable and user documentation.

Verdict

The Logitech MX Mechanical is a polished full-size keyboard for heavy typists who juggle devices. Its low-profile switches, smart backlight, three-device pairing and wide OS support are genuine strengths, while short battery life with the backlight on, a large footprint and a confusing switch label on the listing are the things to watch. If you have confirmed the switch type and want a full-size productivity keyboard, check the current price of the Logitech MX Mechanical on Amazon.in.
