The Lenovo LOQ 2024 (model line LOQ 15ARP9) with an AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6GB, 24GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD is a sensible entry-level gaming laptop for 1080p play. For gamers and students in India who want a real RTX graphics chip without paying for a premium machine, it is well balanced: Lenovo rates the RTX 4050 at 105W, the 24GB of memory runs in dual-channel, and the 15.6-inch screen offers 144Hz with 100% sRGB. The trade-offs are a fairly dim 300-nit panel, short battery life and an older Zen 3+ processor.

This guide covers the exact Amazon.in variant titled “Lenovo LOQ 2024, AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS, NVIDIA RTX 4050-6GB, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD” (ASIN B0D9H338J9). The LOQ 15ARP9 is also sold with other CPU and GPU options, so details below apply to this configuration unless stated otherwise.

Performance: what the Ryzen 7 7435HS and RTX 4050 mean in practice

AMD lists the Ryzen 7 7435HS as a Zen 3+ chip made on a 6nm process, with 8 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.5GHz boost and a 45W default TDP. Eight cores handle gaming with apps running in the background, plus compiling, rendering and video exports. The catch is age: Zen 3+ predates the Ryzen 8000 and Ryzen 200 chips in newer LOQ models, and it has no NPU for on-device AI features.

AMD’s page also lists the 7435HS as “Discrete Graphics Card Required”, meaning it has no integrated graphics. The RTX GPU therefore drives the display at all times. Laptops that can switch light tasks to integrated graphics generally last longer on battery.

NVIDIA specifies the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU with 2,560 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR6 and a boost clock of 1,605-2,370MHz depending on how each laptop maker configures it. Lenovo’s PSREF puts the LOQ 15ARP9 at the top of that range, 2,370MHz, with 105W total graphics power (TGP) on the 170W adapter plus Dynamic Boost 2.0. That matters because some thinner laptops run the same GPU at lower wattage.

As an RTX 40-series GPU it supports ray tracing and DLSS 3, which NVIDIA says uses fourth-generation Tensor cores and an Optical Flow Accelerator to raise frame rates in supported games. The main limit is 6GB of video memory: fine for esports and many games at 1080p, but demanding new releases may need lower texture settings.

Independent reviews of this exact configuration are scarce. PCWorld’s Chris Hoffman reviewed the LOQ 15ARP9 with a 4-core Ryzen 5 7235HS and RTX 3050, a slower pairing, and said that version “isn’t a particularly fast gaming laptop”. His notes on the shared chassis, screen and battery are cited below.

Memory and storage: why 24GB helps

The 24GB of DDR5-4800 runs across two SODIMM slots in dual-channel mode, which gives the GPU and CPU more memory bandwidth than a single stick would. It also leaves room for streaming while gaming or heavy student projects in tools such as Blender.

PSREF lists 32GB as the maximum. If both slots are already filled in your unit, reaching 32GB means replacing modules rather than adding one, so 24GB is the practical ceiling for most owners.

The 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD fills quickly once Windows, a few large games and coursework are installed. PSREF lists two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, so adding a second SSD is a simple upgrade rather than a full replacement.

Display: 144Hz and full sRGB, but not very bright

The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel runs at 144Hz with 100% sRGB, anti-glare coating, 1000:1 contrast and NVIDIA G-SYNC, per PSREF. 144Hz makes shooters and racing games look smoother than a 60Hz screen, and G-SYNC reduces tearing when frame rates fluctuate. Full sRGB suits photo and design coursework.

Brightness is the weak spot. At 300 nits the screen is fine indoors but can struggle near a bright window. PCWorld found its LOQ 15ARP9’s panel dim and described the colours as acceptable but not vivid.

Design, keyboard and ports

The chassis is painted PC-ABS plastic in Luna Grey, measures 359.86 x 258.7 x 21.9-23.9mm and starts at 2.38kg, with Lenovo India listing 2.38-2.45kg for the series. PCWorld called the build solid for a budget gaming laptop, with no flex and a good hinge, but noted pre-installed bloatware including McAfee pop-ups.

The full-size keyboard includes a number pad. PSREF lists either white or 4-zone RGB backlighting depending on the model. PCWorld found the keys comfortable and the large touchpad smooth and responsive. The webcam has a physical E-shutter, PCWorld rated the microphone as surprisingly clear, and there is no fingerprint reader.

Ports are a strength. Three USB-A ports cover a mouse, keyboard and headset. HDMI 2.1 and USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 support up to three displays in total, Gigabit Ethernet helps online gaming, and the USB-C port accepts up to 140W charging with a Lenovo adapter. There is no SD card reader.

Battery life, charging and thermals

The 60Wh battery supports Rapid Charge Pro, which Lenovo says reaches 50% in 30 minutes. Lenovo’s maximum battery figures for the LOQ 15ARP9 are 3.8 hours in MobileMark 25 and 4.0 hours of 1080p video playback at 150 nits. In PCWorld’s video test at 250 nits, its Ryzen 5 and RTX 3050 unit lasted 196 minutes, which the reviewer called very low. Treat this as a plugged-in gaming laptop.

PCWorld reported that the fans exhaust out the back, the keyboard stayed reasonably cool, and fan noise was audible but not especially loud. That unit had a lower-wattage GPU and a 4-core CPU, so the 105W RTX 4050 and 8-core Ryzen 7 here may run warmer and louder under heavy gaming.
