The realme NARZO 80x 5G is a budget 5G phone with a 6000mAh battery, 45W charging, a 120Hz display and a Dimensity 6400 chip. It is aimed at people who want a long-lasting phone with decent charging speed, an IP69 rating and a 50MP main camera, without paying for a mid-range chip.

The short verdict: it is a sensible battery-and-durability phone for everyday tasks, but its camera set-up is basic, it has no NFC or 3.5mm jack according to GSMArena, and the chip is built for light to moderate use. The variant linked here is listed on Amazon.in as Deep Ocean, 6GB + 128GB. It is also an older NARZO model, so check that it is still on sale.

How this article was made: it is based on realme India’s official page and GSMArena’s specification listing, both checked on 29 October 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing, and we found no independent battery or performance test for this model in our research, so we do not make claims about real-world speed or battery life.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: first-time 5G buyers, students and families who want a durable phone with a big battery and modest needs
  • Skip if: you want a strong camera system, NFC, a 3.5mm jack or heavy gaming performance
  • Key strengths: 6000mAh battery, 45W charging, 120Hz display, IP68 and IP69 ratings, 50MP main camera, MIL-STD-810H listing
  • Key limitations: Dimensity 6400 is an entry-level chip, no NFC and no 3.5mm jack per GSMArena, an undescribed second rear camera, and no published front camera resolution

Display: a large 120Hz LCD

The screen is a 6.72-inch IPS LCD with 1080 x 2400 resolution, according to GSMArena, which is a full HD+ panel and sharper than HD+ budget phones. realme’s page says the refresh rate goes up to 120Hz and is set to Auto by default, so the phone chooses the rate depending on what you are doing. A higher refresh rate makes scrolling look smoother, but Auto mode means you will not see 120Hz everywhere. GSMArena lists a 950-nit peak brightness, which is a peak figure and not what you see continuously outdoors.

It is an LCD and not an AMOLED, so blacks look less deep and contrast is lower. That is a normal trade-off at this class, and it is worth knowing if you watch a lot of video in dim rooms.

Performance: what the Dimensity 6400 is for

The Dimensity 6400 is a 6nm octa-core chip with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, per GSMArena. It supports 5G. It is built for calling, UPI payments, social media, streaming and casual games, and we would not expect it to run demanding 3D games at high settings. We did not find an independent benchmark or gaming test for this specific phone, so we have no numbers to share.

Memory deserves care. The linked variant is 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. realme’s page promotes 18GB “dynamic RAM”, which for the biggest variant adds 10GB of virtual RAM taken from storage on top of 8GB of physical RAM. Virtual RAM is slower than real RAM and is not a substitute for it. A user comment on GSMArena mentions UFS 2.2 storage, but that is an opinion and not an official spec, so we do not rely on it.

Battery and charging

A 6000mAh battery is larger than the 5000mAh cells common on budget phones. realme lists 6000mAh typical and 5860mAh rated capacity, and cites lab runtimes such as 49.7 hours of calling and 16 hours of Instagram. These are company lab figures, not independent tests. Charging is 45W wired, and realme says the charger’s maximum output is 45W, so confirm the in-box charger on the listing. It also supports 5W reverse charging to top up a small device such as earbuds. realme claims the battery retains over 80 percent of capacity after four years, which is a simulation and not a guarantee.

Camera: a single useful lens

GSMArena lists a dual 50MP rear set-up with an f/1.8 main lens and PDAF, plus video at 1080p up to 60fps. The second lens is not described, and the realme page names only the 50MP main camera. In practice, expect the main sensor to carry daylight photos while low-light photos and zoomed shots will be modest. The front camera resolution is not published in the sources we checked, so selfie quality is something to check on the listing.

Durability, design and software

IP68 and IP69 ratings are uncommon at this level. realme describes IP68 conditions of two metres for 30 minutes and warns that the ratings can decline with wear. GSMArena lists MIL-STD-810H compliance but adds that it does not guarantee ruggedness. These are lab ratings, so treat water protection as a safety margin, not an invitation.

The phone is 7.9mm thick and weighs 197g, which is reasonable for its battery. It runs Android 15 with realme UI. realme does not state a software update promise on the page we checked, so look up the current commitment if you plan to keep the phone for years. GSMArena lists no NFC, so tap-to-pay will not work, though UPI by QR code still works.

Who should buy it

  • Buyers who want a long-lasting phone with decent charging and an IP69 body
  • Students and first-time 5G users
  • Families who want a durable phone for a child or elder
  • People who watch a lot of video and want a big 120Hz screen

Who should skip it

  • Gamers who want high frame rates in demanding titles
  • Anyone who wants NFC, a 3.5mm jack or an AMOLED screen
  • People who care about camera quality, especially low light
  • Buyers who need a documented, long software-update promise

Alternatives worth comparing

  • realme NARZO 80 Pro 5G: according to realme India, it has a Dimensity 7400 chip, a 120Hz FHD+ display, a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera with OIS, a 6000mAh battery and 80W charging, for those who can spend more
  • realme NARZO 100 Lite 5G: according to realme India, it has a 6.8-inch 144Hz screen (supported apps), a Dimensity 6300 chip, a 13MP camera and a 7000mAh battery, so it has a bigger battery but a more basic camera

Buying tips before you order

  • Check the variant: this link is for Deep Ocean, 6GB + 128GB. Other RAM and colour options are different variants and this link does not cover them
  • Check it is still sold: this is an older NARZO model, and we cannot verify availability
  • Check box contents: confirm whether a 45W charger and cable are included
  • Check warranty: realme links to a warranty policy but does not state the period on its page, so confirm it on the listing
  • Check 5G bands: a GSMArena reader comment says 5G band support is limited, which is not an official statement, so ask your operator if you need specific bands

Frequently asked questions

Does the realme NARZO 80x 5G have NFC?

GSMArena lists no NFC. realme’s page we checked does not mention it.

How fast does the NARZO 80x 5G charge?

realme lists 45W wired charging with a maximum charger output of 45W. We found no independent charging-time test, so a 0 to 100 percent time is not given here.

Is it waterproof?

realme and GSMArena list IP68 and IP69 ratings, which mean strong dust and water resistance in lab conditions. They are not a guarantee against damage, and ratings can decline over time.

Is 6GB RAM enough?

For everyday use, usually yes. The 18GB figure on realme’s page includes 10GB of virtual RAM on the largest variant, so do not compare it with a phone that has real RAM of that size.

Does it have a headphone jack?

GSMArena lists no 3.5mm jack. The phone has a USB-C 2.0 port.

Conclusion

The realme NARZO 80x 5G is a durable, battery-first phone that is suited to everyday use, with limits in camera, chip and connectivity. Confirm it is still sold and check the 6GB + 128GB variant on the listing before you order.
