The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 with the AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD (model 82XQ00XDIN) is a sensible everyday laptop for students, home users and office work such as documents, browsing, online classes and video streaming. It is not a performance machine: the Ryzen 5 7520U uses four older Zen 2 cores, and the 16GB of LPDDR5 memory is soldered, so what you buy is what you keep. If your workload is light and you value a slim 15.6-inch body with a numeric keypad, it fits well. If you plan to edit video, game or run heavy software, look higher.
This article covers the specific Amazon.in listing titled “Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3, AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, 16GB, 512GB SSD, FHD Thin and Light Laptop, 15.6″ (39.6cm), Windows 11, Grey, 1.6Kg, 82XQ00XDIN, Microsoft 365 Basic +…” (ASIN B0CD4BQ4SF). A note on method: everything here comes from Lenovo’s PSREF specification sheet, AMD’s processor page and published third-party coverage, checked on 17 October 2026. Gadget Soch has not used this laptop hands-on, and the article contains no test results of our own.
The short answer
- Good for: college and school work, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, web browsing, video calls, Netflix and YouTube, and light photo touch-ups
- Not good for: gaming, video editing, 3D or CAD software, or anyone who wants to add more RAM later
- What it does well: 16GB dual-channel memory, a full-size keyboard with number pad, an SD card reader, USB-C with charging and display output, MIL-STD-810H tested build, 1.6kg weight
- Where it falls short: four-core Zen 2 processor, basic Radeon 610M graphics, soldered RAM capped at 16GB, a single SSD slot limited to PCIe 3.0 x2 speeds, HDMI 1.4, and a screen type you should confirm before buying

The Ryzen 5 7520U, explained honestly
The name suggests a current-generation Ryzen 5, but the chip inside is more modest. AMD’s own specification page lists the Ryzen 5 7520U as a Zen 2 design (codename Mendocino) built on a 6nm process, with 4 cores, 8 threads, a 2.8GHz base clock, up to 4.3GHz boost and a 15W default power level. It launched in September 2022. Notebookcheck’s processor database describes it as using “four older Zen 2 cores”, similar to the Ryzen 4000 series, and calls it a lower mid-range chip.
How does that translate to real use? In Notebookcheck’s May 2023 review of the Acer Aspire 3, which uses the same Ryzen 5 7520U, the reviewers placed its processor performance between AMD’s older Ryzen 5 5500U (6 cores) and Ryzen 3 5300U (4 cores). That is enough for Office, browsers with a sensible number of tabs, online classes and streaming. It is not ideal for compiling big software projects, long video exports or running virtual machines.
The upside of a modest 15W chip is that it suits thin, quiet laptops. Lenovo rates the IdeaPad Slim 3 15AMN8 for up to 11 hours on the MobileMark 2018 test (at 200 nits) and up to 14 hours of local 1080p video playback (at 150 nits). These are Lenovo’s lab figures under controlled conditions, so expect less with higher brightness, many browser tabs or video calls.
What about the Radeon 610M graphics?
The integrated Radeon 610M uses AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture but with only two compute units, according to AMD and Notebookcheck. It handles video playback, multiple monitors and simple photo edits. It is not meant for modern 3D games. If gaming matters even a little, this is the wrong laptop.
16GB LPDDR5, soldered: the upgrade question
Lenovo’s PSREF confirms that the memory is LPDDR5 soldered to the motherboard, with no memory slots, running at 5500MT/s in dual-channel mode. AMD lists 16GB as the maximum memory for the Ryzen 5 7520U, so this 16GB model already has the most the platform supports.
This is a good reason to choose the 16GB version over the 8GB versions of the same laptop. Windows 11, a browser and Microsoft Teams or Zoom together can use a lot of memory, and you cannot add more later. The trade-off is clear: 16GB is comfortable for everyday work today, but there is no path to 32GB if your needs grow.
Storage has a similar limit. There is one M.2 2242 slot (a shorter SSD size than the common 2280), and PSREF notes that the platform runs SSDs at PCIe 3.0 x2 speed. You can swap the 512GB drive for a 1TB one, but you will need a 2242-size SSD and you will not see full PCIe 4.0 speeds.
Display: confirm the panel type before you buy

Every IdeaPad Slim 3 15AMN8 has a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) anti-glare screen, but PSREF lists three panel options for the series: a TN panel at 250 nits with 400:1 contrast, a non-touch IPS panel at 300 nits with 800:1 contrast, and a touch IPS panel at 300 nits. All three cover 45% NTSC, which means colours are muted rather than vivid.
The difference matters. TN panels lose contrast and shift colour when viewed from an angle, while IPS panels hold up much better. The listing title does not state which panel the 82XQ00XDIN uses, so check the product description, the technical details table or Lenovo India support with the model number before ordering. If you study for long hours, the IPS version is the more comfortable choice.
Day-to-day details that matter for students
Keyboard and touchpad
Lenovo fits a full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad, which is handy for spreadsheets and accounts work. PSREF lists the backlight as optional, and the full Amazon.in title for this listing mentions a backlit keyboard. The buttonless touchpad supports Windows Precision drivers.
Webcam, privacy and audio
Depending on the model, the webcam is 720p or 1080p, and every version has a physical privacy shutter. PSREF also lists an optional fingerprint reader in the power button, so check whether this unit has one. Two 1.5W speakers with Dolby Audio cover lectures and video calls, but use headphones for music.
Ports and charging
You get two USB-A ports, one USB-C port that supports charging (45-65W) and DisplayPort output, HDMI 1.4, an SD card reader and a headphone jack. HDMI 1.4 means 4K output at 30Hz only, while the USB-C port can drive a 4K monitor at 60Hz. There is no Ethernet port. The included charger uses a round pin, and Lenovo’s Rapid Charge Boost is rated to give about two hours of use from 15 minutes of charging.
Build and weight
The body is PC-ABS plastic, 17.9mm thick and from 1.62kg, and Lenovo says the design passed 21 MIL-STD-810H tests. That is light enough to carry daily, though it is still a full 15.6-inch laptop.
Is it a good student laptop? Who should buy and who should skip

Buy it if you are a school or college student in arts, commerce or humanities, a home user who needs a reliable family laptop, or an office worker who lives in email, spreadsheets and browsers. The 16GB of memory, number pad and SD card reader make it practical for that kind of work.
Skip it if you study engineering, architecture or design and need CAD, 3D or video software, if you want to play games, or if you like to upgrade parts over time. Also skip it if you need Ethernet for a hostel network without buying a USB adapter.
Other laptops to compare
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15ABR8: a sibling model with Ryzen 5 7530U or Ryzen 7 7730U options. AMD lists the Ryzen 5 7530U as a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 3 chip, so it offers more processing headroom. PSREF lists its memory as soldered DDR4-3200, up to 16GB.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IAH8: the Intel version, with a Core i5-12450H that has 8 cores (4 performance plus 4 efficient) and 12 threads, according to PSREF. It also uses soldered LPDDR5 memory and integrated Intel UHD graphics, and shares the 47Wh battery.
A gaming laptop instead: if games or GPU-heavy software are on your list, a laptop with dedicated graphics is a different class of machine. Our Lenovo LOQ Ryzen 7 RTX 4050 review covers one such option, at the cost of more weight and shorter battery life.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Ryzen 5 7520U good for students?
Yes, for everyday study tasks such as Office, browsing, online classes and streaming. AMD lists it as a 4-core, 8-thread Zen 2 chip, so it is not suited to heavy video editing, CAD or gaming.
Can I upgrade the RAM in the IdeaPad Slim 3 15AMN8?
No. Lenovo’s PSREF lists the LPDDR5 memory as soldered with no slots, and AMD’s maximum for the Ryzen 5 7520U is 16GB. That is why the 16GB version is the better buy.
Can I add a second SSD?
No, there is only one M.2 2242 slot. You can replace the 512GB SSD with a larger 2242 drive, up to 1TB according to PSREF.
Does the IdeaPad Slim 3 charge over USB-C?
PSREF lists USB Power Delivery (45-65W) on the USB-C port, alongside the round-pin 65W adapter that ships with the laptop.
Can it run games?
Only very light or older titles at low settings. The Radeon 610M has just two compute units, so it is not designed for modern 3D games.
Bottom line
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 82XQ00XDIN is an honest everyday laptop: slim, practical, with useful ports and the maximum 16GB of memory its platform allows. Its Zen 2 processor, soldered RAM and uncertain panel type mean it is for light work, not for creators or gamers. If that matches your needs, check the current price of the IdeaPad Slim 3 Ryzen 5 7520U on Amazon.in.
