The Acer ALG (AL15G-53) with the Intel Core i5-13420H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB is a budget 15.6-inch gaming laptop aimed at 1080p play on a 144Hz screen. Is it a good gaming laptop? For esports titles and older or lighter AAA games at Full HD with sensible settings, yes. Its 6GB graphics card is a step up from the common 4GB RTX 3050, but DDR4 memory, a narrow-gamut screen and an unpublished GPU power limit keep it firmly in entry-level territory.

This guide covers the exact Amazon.in listing titled “Acer ALG, 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13420H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050-6GB DDR6, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, FHD 15.6″/39.62 cm, 144Hz, Windows 11 Home, Steel Gray, 1.99 KG, AL15G-53” (ASIN B0DXVGVNKN). Acer sells the same AL15G-53 body with Core i7 and newer Core 5 and Core 7 chips, plus 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD options, so not every ALG you see online matches this one.

A note on method: this article is based on Acer India’s official product page and published specification listings from Notebookcheck, 91mobiles and Smartprix, all checked on 17 October 2026. Gadget Soch has not used this Acer ALG hands-on, so there are no benchmark scores, temperature readings or battery-test results of our own below.

The Core i5-13420H: enough processor for a budget gaming rig

The Intel Core i5-13420H is a 45W H-series chip with eight cores split into four performance cores and four efficiency cores, giving 12 threads in total, according to Notebookcheck’s mobile processor list. Acer quotes a 2.1GHz base clock and up to 4.6GHz on turbo. Performance cores handle games, while efficiency cores take background jobs such as browser tabs and updates.

That is a sensible match for an RTX 3050. At 1080p, this class of graphics card is usually the bottleneck before the CPU is, so a faster processor would add cost without adding many frames. Where you will feel the i5’s limits is in heavier creative work: long video exports or large code compiles finish faster on chips with more performance cores, such as the 14th Gen HX-series processors found in some rivals.

RTX 3050 with 6GB: what changes over the 4GB version

Many budget gaming laptops in India use the original RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4GB of video memory. The Acer ALG uses the 6GB version, which NVIDIA introduced in early 2023. According to Notebookcheck’s GPU database, the 6GB model has 2,560 CUDA cores (up from 2,048) on a narrower 96-bit memory bus, compared with 128-bit on the 4GB model.

The extra 2GB matters more than the headline suggests. Recent games increasingly fill 4GB of video memory even at 1080p, which forces texture quality down or causes stutter when the Acer ALG runs out. With 6GB, there is more breathing room for medium-to-high textures in current titles. Notebookcheck describes the RTX 3050 family as best suited to Full HD gaming and notes that it is not strong enough for ray tracing in most games, though NVIDIA DLSS can help frame rates in supported titles.

The one important unknown is power. Laptop makers can run the RTX 3050 anywhere from 35W to 80W, and Notebookcheck notes that lower-power versions perform noticeably worse. Acer’s India product page does not state the TGP for this model, and we could not confirm it from an official source.

Display: a 144Hz panel with limited colour range

The 15.6-inch Full HD screen refreshes at 144Hz, which makes motion in fast games, and even ordinary scrolling, look smoother than on a standard 60Hz office laptop. In lighter esports titles, where entry-level graphics cards usually run well above 60 frames per second, a 144Hz panel lets you actually see those extra frames.

The weaker side is colour. Acer lists the panel’s gamut as 45% NTSC, a figure common on budget gaming screens. Colours will look less vivid than on a 100% sRGB panel, so it is not a screen for photo or video colour work. Acer’s store page does not list the panel type or brightness in nits, so we have left those out of the specification table. Some retailer listings describe the AL15G-53 panel as IPS, but confirm on the Amazon listing if viewing angles matter to you.

Memory, storage and upgrade room

The 16GB of RAM here is DDR4, not the newer DDR5 used by several rivals in this segment. DDR4 has less bandwidth, which can matter in some CPU-heavy games and multitasking. On the plus side, Acer says the AL15G-53 has two SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 64GB. 91mobiles lists the 16GB as a single module, so if that is how your unit ships, adding a matching second module would enable dual-channel memory, a cheap upgrade that typically improves performance.

Storage is a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD. Large AAA games can each take a big share of that, and Windows plus your apps use some too, so 512GB fills quickly for a gamer. The good news is that Acer lists dual M.2 slots with support for up to 2TB, so you can add a second SSD rather than replace the first. Before opening the Acer ALG, check what Acer India’s warranty terms say about user upgrades.

Build, ports and portability

At 1.99kg and 22.7mm thick, the ALG is lighter than many 15.6-inch gaming laptops in its class, such as the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2.30kg) and the Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 (from 2.38kg). It comes in a Steel Gray finish, and the full-size keyboard includes a number pad and multi-colour backlighting.

Acer’s port list includes one USB 2.0 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Type-C ports and HDMI. Use the faster Type-A port for external drives and keep the USB 2.0 port for a mouse or keyboard. Acer’s store page does not list an Ethernet (RJ-45) port, although some retailer spec listings mention one. If wired internet is important to you, confirm this on the Amazon listing or the product photos before ordering. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.2 or later.

The 1MP HD webcam is fine for online classes and calls, and audio comes from two stereo speakers.

Battery life and charging

The ALG uses a 54Wh, 4-cell battery, and Acer claims up to 7 hours. Treat that figure as a best case for light use with the screen dimmed and the NVIDIA GPU idle. Gaming on battery will drain it far quicker, and gaming laptops generally limit graphics power when unplugged, so frame rates also drop. For gaming sessions, plan to stay near the 150W charger that comes in the box.

Who should buy the Acer ALG, and who should skip it

Who should buy the Acer ALG
Who the Acer ALG suits, summarised from this review.

Buy it if you want an affordable entry into PC gaming at 1080p, play mostly esports or slightly older AAA games, value a lighter chassis for daily carrying, and like the idea of upgrading RAM and storage later. The 6GB RTX 3050 is its standout spec at this level.

Skip it if you edit photos or video for clients and need accurate colour, want to play the latest demanding releases at high settings for several years, or need long battery life away from a socket.
