The short answer: for most buyers the newer Sony WF-C710N is the more sensible pick, because Sony rates it for about 30 hours in total against about 15 hours for the Sony WF-C700N. Choose the WF-C700N only if you want the smallest, lightest earbuds, especially for smaller ears.
Both are compact Sony noise-cancelling earbuds with SBC and AAC only, IPX4 and no wireless charging. The sound and ANC are broadly similar in the reviews we summarised, so the decision is mostly about battery, size and a few unconfirmed features.
How we wrote this: our picks are based on official specifications and published reviews summarised in our individual reviews, not hands-on testing. Prices and availability on Amazon.in change often, so we do not quote any prices here.
Quick verdict
- Choose the WF-C710N if you want a longer battery (up to 8.5 hours per charge with ANC on and about 30 hours in total per Sony), Bluetooth 5.3 and a lively, punchy sound
- Choose the WF-C700N if you want the lightest, most compact earbuds (about 4.6 g each) and can live with about 15 hours in total
- Skip both if you want LDAC or aptX, wireless charging or the strongest ANC in the market

Battery and charging
This is the biggest difference. Sony rates the WF-C700N at 7.5 hours with ANC on, 10 hours with it off and about 15 hours in total with the case. GSMArena said those claims held up, but both GSMArena and What Hi-Fi? called battery the weak spot.
The WF-C710N is rated at up to 8.5 hours with ANC on, up to 12 hours with it off, and about 30 hours in total, from 8.5 hours plus about 21.5 hours from the case. T3 quotes about 40 hours in total, but Sony’s own page says about 30, so we use that. t2ONLINE reports about 8.5 to 9.5 hours with ANC on. Neither model has wireless charging.
Who it suits: the WF-C710N for commuters and travellers who want to charge the case roughly half as often. The WF-C700N is fine for a day of commuting but not for heavy use.
Noise cancelling
GSMArena found the WF-C700N’s ANC strong for its size in an office and on busy streets, though not as strong as Sony’s WF-1000X4. What Hi-Fi? called it competitive in its class and said Ambient Sound Mode strikes a good balance. GSMArena noted that ambient mode takes a few seconds to engage.
For the WF-C710N, reviewers are not in agreement. t2ONLINE calls it one of the best ANC options at the price point, while T3 found it noticeable but blunter and heard a static-like hiss when music is paused. T3 also says the Technics EAH-AZ100 and Apple AirPods Pro 2 have better ANC. What Hi-Fi? says the WF-C710N offers better sound and ANC than the WF-C700N.
Who it suits: both give a clear drop in constant noise but not silence. The WF-C710N may have a slight edge according to What Hi-Fi?, though T3’s hiss complaint is worth knowing about if you are sensitive to it.
Sound quality and codecs
What Hi-Fi? gave the WF-C700N five stars for sound, praising detail, dynamics and musicality, and GSMArena described a balanced, flat default tuning with eight presets and three custom profiles. GSMArena found DSEE made no noticeable difference with lower-bitrate audio.
T3 calls the WF-C710N lively and fairly precise, with punchy bass but a soundstage that is not very wide, and notes little has changed in the sound versus the C700N. t2ONLINE agrees that the bass is punchy but says upper-treble detail is missing, and that EQ tweaks help. Its app offers only a basic five-band custom equaliser, per t2ONLINE.
Both support only SBC and AAC. iPhone users get AAC and Android users usually fall back on SBC, with no aptX or LDAC on either.
Who it suits: the WF-C700N for a flat, balanced signature, and the WF-C710N for a livelier, bass-forward sound.
Design, fit and build
The WF-C700N is the smaller of the two at about 4.6 g per earbud and about 31 g for the case. GSMArena found it comfortable for hours, and What Hi-Fi? said it suits smaller ears especially well and is more comfortable than the WF-1000XM4.
The WF-C710N is heavier at about 5.2 g and about 38 g, and What Hi-Fi? calls its design bulkier. t2ONLINE found it comfortable for hours and stable while jogging with the right tips, but T3 describes it as all plastic with a flimsy case lid. Both are rated IPX4, which covers sweat and light rain but not swimming or a rinse under a tap.
Who it suits: pick the WF-C700N for small ears and a lighter pocket. Pick the WF-C710N if you want more colour choices and do not mind some extra size.
Calls, controls and features
GSMArena found calls on the WF-C700N clearer than similarly priced earbuds, though strong wind muffles the voice, and What Hi-Fi? said voices sound natural. Multipoint was missing at launch according to GSMArena, but What Hi-Fi? says a summer 2023 firmware update added it, and Sony’s page does not mention it. Update the earbuds in the Sony app and check the feature appears. There is no auto pause or play, and GSMArena says the app requires constant location tracking.
t2ONLINE found WF-C710N calls good but not at AirPods level, helped by dual microphones and AI voice pickup. T3 lists multipoint and wear detection that pauses media, but these were not visible on the Sony India page text we read, so confirm them on the listing or in the app. t2ONLINE also says 360 Reality Audio is available after an ear-shape scan.
Who it suits: the WF-C710N may add convenience features if T3 is right, but treat them as unconfirmed.
