The Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charging Power Adapter (Type-A), model MDY-17-EU, is a single-port wall charger that Xiaomi India rates at up to 45W, with USB Power Delivery support and over ten electrical protection features. It suits owners of Xiaomi and Redmi phones who want a genuine spare brick, and anyone with an older USB-A to USB-C cable setup. It is not a laptop charger, and the Amazon.in listing linked here bundles a cable that Xiaomi’s own spec page does not include in the box, so a few details need checking before you order.
Short verdict: a sensible, compact spare charger for phones and tablets, provided you confirm the seller, the model code and what is in the box. If you need USB-C to USB-C charging, laptop charging or two ports, look elsewhere.
This article is based on Xiaomi India’s official product and specification pages and the Amazon.in listing data, all checked on 17 October 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing, and it does not include prices because they change often on Amazon.in.
Quick verdict
- Best for: Xiaomi and Redmi phone owners who want a spare 45W brick, and anyone charging phones or tablets with a USB-A to USB-C cable
- Skip if: you want to charge a laptop, need a USB-C output port, or want to charge two devices at once
- Key strengths: official Xiaomi India product with model code MDY-17-EU, 100-240V input for travel, UL94-V0 fire-retardant casing and more than 10 protection features listed by Xiaomi
- Key limitations: one USB-A port only, standard USB PD output listed at 5V/3A and 9V/3A, and the bundled cable and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 claim appear only on the Amazon listing, not on Xiaomi’s spec page

What “45W” means on this charger
The headline number needs a little unpacking. Xiaomi India lists the fast charging output as 5-11V at up to 4.1A, 45W maximum. Multiply 11V by 4.1A and you get roughly 45W, so that is the top figure the Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charger can deliver to a device that asks for it.
Separately, Xiaomi says the Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charger has a built-in smart identification chip and supports USB Power Delivery (PD) with outputs of 5V/3A and 9V/3A. At 9V and 3A that works out to 27W. In plain terms, a phone that charges over standard USB PD should not be expected to pull the full 45W from this brick, going by the outputs Xiaomi lists. Xiaomi’s page does not name which devices reach the 45W ceiling, so treat 45W as the maximum, not a promise for every phone.
A charger never pushes more power than your phone requests, so lower-rated phones charge safely at their own speed, while phones built around another brand’s protocol may fall back to a slower standard mode. Check your phone’s charging rating and standard first.
What about Quick Charge 3.0?
The Amazon.in listing title says the Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charger works with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, and the listing’s “Specification Met” field mentions Qualcomm. Xiaomi India’s spec page does not mention Quick Charge, so we cannot confirm it. If your device relies on QC 3.0, treat it as an unverified seller claim.
The Type-A port and the bundled cable
Xiaomi names this product the “Type-A” version of its 45W adapter, which means the output socket is the older, rectangular USB-A shape rather than USB-C. That suits USB-A to USB-C cables, but a USB-C to USB-C cable will not fit.
Xiaomi’s official box contents list only one item: the Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charger. The Amazon.in listing, however, is sold as a combo that “includes USB Type-C 3A fast charge cable”. That cable is part of the seller’s bundle, not part of Xiaomi’s official package, so we could not confirm whether it is a genuine Xiaomi cable. There is also a mismatch worth noting: Xiaomi rates the adapter’s fast output at up to 4.1A, while the listing describes the bundled cable as a 3A cable. Whether the full 45W can pass through that cable is not stated anywhere we checked.
Xiaomi’s own overview page says the adapter charges most Type-C port phones and tablets safely “with an original Xiaomi data cable”. If you already own the cable that came with a recent Xiaomi or Redmi phone, that is the safest pairing.
Safety and build
Xiaomi India says the casing uses UL94-V0 grade fireproof, high-temperature-resistant material. UL94-V0 is a flammability rating for plastics, and V0 is the strictest of the common vertical burn classes, meaning the material is designed to stop burning quickly if it ever catches fire.
Xiaomi also lists “more than 10 safety protection features”, naming short circuit, overcurrent, overvoltage, overtemperature and undervoltage protection, plus intelligent temperature control.
The Amazon.in listing says the product meets BIS requirements and gives India as the country of origin. Mobile chargers sold in India need BIS registration, so look for the registration mark and number on the product photos or the charger itself once it arrives.
Size, travel and plug
At 56.2 x 50.4 x 31.2 mm, according to Xiaomi India, this is a compact adapter that fits easily into a laptop bag or the side pocket of a backpack. The listing gives the weight as 116 g; Xiaomi’s spec page does not list a weight, and the listing figure may include packaging.
The 100-240V AC input covers Indian mains and most grids abroad, though you may need a socket adapter overseas. The Amazon listing’s plug type field reads “Type A, 2 pin (North American)”, which is not what you would expect for an Indian model. We could not confirm the plug shape, so check the product photos to be sure it fits Indian sockets.
Can it charge a laptop?
The Amazon.in title says the charger is compatible with laptops and power banks. Xiaomi’s own pages describe it as compatible with “most commercially available smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices” and do not mention laptops. Xiaomi lists no output above 11V, while many USB-C laptops ask for 15V or 20V over USB PD, and the USB-A port means you would need a USB-A to USB-C cable to try. Do not buy it as a laptop charger.
Who should buy it

- Xiaomi and Redmi owners who want a genuine spare charger for the office, bedside or travel bag
- People whose devices still use USB-A to USB-C cables
- Anyone who wants a single compact brick with a wide 100-240V input for trips abroad
Who should skip it
- Anyone who wants to charge a laptop from a phone charger
- Owners of USB-C to USB-C cables only, since the output port is USB-A
- Buyers who need two or more ports to charge a phone and earbuds together
- Samsung owners who want Super Fast Charging, which Samsung bases on USB PD with PPS, a feature Xiaomi’s page does not list for this adapter
Alternatives worth comparing
Samsung 15W Travel Adapter
A simpler single-port charger with a USB-C output and 15W rating. As covered in our Samsung 15W Travel Adapter review, it is sold in India with and without a cable, and the spec sheets we found list USB PD but not PPS. Choose it if you use USB-C to USB-C cables and only need 15W.
Samsung 25W Super Fast Charging adapter (EP-T2510)
For Galaxy phones rated at 25W, Samsung’s own 25W adapter is the better match because Samsung says its Super Fast Charging is based on USB PD 3.0 with PPS. Samsung’s UK page lists it without a cable in the box, so budget for a suitable cable too.
Ambrane PowerlitDuo 30
If you need charging away from a socket, consider a power bank instead. Ambrane rates the PowerlitDuo 30 at 20000mAh with up to 33W output and lists PD 3.0, PPS and QC 3.0 support. Our power bank and charger buying guide explains how to match wattage to your phone.
What to check before you order

- Model code: look for MDY-17-EU on the listing and on the charger itself. Xiaomi sells 45W Type-A adapters with other model codes in other regions, such as the MDY-17-EF listed on Xiaomi Spain, with different dimensions
- Box contents: confirm that the listing still shows the bundled USB Type-C cable, since Xiaomi’s official package is adapter-only
- Seller: check who sells and ships the item. Counterfeit chargers do appear on marketplaces, and this title reads like a seller-written one rather than Xiaomi’s own
- Colour: this link is for the White version
- Plug shape: check the photos for a plug that fits Indian sockets, as the listing’s plug field says North American
- Warranty and service: the listing data we captured does not state warranty terms, so check the warranty shown on the listing and keep your invoice for Xiaomi service centres in India
- Your phone’s rating: confirm your phone’s maximum charging wattage and standard before assuming you will get 45W

Frequently asked questions
Is the Xiaomi 45W Turbo Charger a USB-C charger?
No. Xiaomi names this model the Type-A version, so its output port is USB-A. The combo on Amazon.in adds a cable with a USB Type-C end for your phone, but the adapter itself takes a USB-A plug.
Does the Xiaomi MDY-17-EU come with a cable?
Xiaomi’s official box contents list only the adapter. This Amazon.in listing is a combo that the seller says includes a USB Type-C 3A cable. Check the listing’s box contents before you order.
Will my Samsung or iPhone charge at 45W on it?
Do not expect it. Xiaomi lists USB PD outputs of 5V/3A and 9V/3A, which is up to 27W over PD, and does not mention PPS, which Samsung uses for Super Fast Charging. Your phone will charge safely, but at whatever speed the two can agree on, and an iPhone with a Lightning or USB-C port would also need a suitable USB-A cable.
Does it support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0?
The Amazon.in listing says so, but Xiaomi India’s specification page does not mention Quick Charge. We could not verify the claim.
Final thoughts
Xiaomi’s 45W Turbo Charging Power Adapter (Type-A) is a compact official charger with a wide input range and a long list of protection features. Its limits are equally clear: one USB-A port, standard PD output that tops out well below 45W according to Xiaomi’s own figures, and no real laptop charging. This particular listing adds a cable and a Quick Charge claim that Xiaomi does not confirm, so buy from a trusted seller and check the model code when it arrives.
