Is the POCO X6 Pro 5G still worth buying in 2026? For the right buyer, yes: its Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip, UFS 4.0 storage, 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED screen and 67W charging still make it a fast, capable phone. But it launched in India in January 2024, and newer models such as the POCO X7 Pro and POCO X8 Pro offer bigger batteries, faster charging and much better water resistance. It only makes sense if the price gap to those newer phones is large.

Our Amazon.in link opened the POCO X6 Pro 5G in Racing Grey with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage when we checked it on 17 October 2026. That is the configuration described here. POCO also sold a 12GB + 512GB version, and Amazon may show a different default colour or memory option, so confirm the exact variant on the listing.

This is not a hands-on review. It is based on POCO’s official specifications (checked 17 October 2026), GSMArena’s full review and lab tests, and Indian launch coverage, all credited below.

The short answer

  • Worth it for: buyers who want strong performance and a sharp, high-refresh display, and who mostly use their phone indoors or in a city
  • Not worth it for: anyone who needs top-tier battery life, proper water resistance or the longest possible software support
  • Still impressive: Dimensity 8300-Ultra, LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0, 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED with Dolby Vision, 67W charger in the box, dual speakers
  • Showing its age: 5,000mAh battery, IP54 only, a basic 2MP macro camera, weak video stabilisation, and an update window that started in early 2024

What still holds up in 2026

Performance that has not aged much

The Dimensity 8300-Ultra was the X6 Pro’s biggest selling point at launch, and it remains its strongest feature. GSMArena described it as “essentially unrivaled in benchmarks” against similarly priced phones at the time. More useful for real life is GSMArena’s sustained-load result: in Balanced mode, the phone settled at about 80% of its starting performance during a long CPU stress test, and at 71% in Performance mode. That suggests it can hold steady speeds during long gaming sessions rather than dropping sharply.

LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage are also features you still do not find on every mid-range phone in 2026. They help with app switching, game loading times and moving large files.

A display that is still sharp

The 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2712 x 1220 and refreshes at up to 120Hz. GSMArena confirmed Dolby Vision playback on Netflix and HDR video on YouTube, which matters if you watch a lot of streaming content. In its lab, GSMArena measured 517 nits with manual brightness and 1,148 nits in auto mode with a 75% white screen. That is good enough for outdoor use, though newer phones such as the POCO X8 Pro advertise much higher peak figures.

Fast charging and loud speakers

The 67W charger comes in the box. In GSMArena’s test, the X6 Pro went from 0 to 47% in 15 minutes, 83% in 30 minutes and full in 43 minutes. The dual speakers earned a “Very Good” loudness rating, with a mid-forward sound that the reviewer found good overall, although slightly behind the X5 Pro.

Where the POCO X6 Pro has aged

Battery capacity

A 5,000mAh battery was normal in early 2024. GSMArena gave it an Active Use Score of 11:46h, a decent result. But the market has moved on: the India version of the POCO X7 Pro has 6,550mAh and the POCO X8 Pro lists 6,500mAh. If you are a heavy user who wants to finish the day with charge to spare, this is the biggest reason to look at a newer phone.

Only IP54 water resistance

The X6 Pro is rated IP54, which means protection against dust and splashes, not submersion. POCO also notes that liquid damage outside its test conditions is not covered by warranty. GSMArena listed the IP rating as a weakness compared with competitors, and newer models in this range have moved to IP68 and IP69 ratings. During the Indian monsoon, that difference is not trivial.

The software clock is running

The X6 Pro shipped with Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14. Business Today and Gizmochina reported at launch that it would get three major Android updates and four years of security patches. On paper, that means updates up to Android 17, and security support until around early 2028 if counted from the January 2024 launch. That is still a reasonable runway, but it is shorter than what a phone launched in 2026 would give you. Check Settings and Xiaomi’s update information for the version currently available.

Cameras: better photos than video

The main camera uses a 64MP sensor with OIS, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. GSMArena called the main camera’s daylight photos solid, with good detail and saturation, though white balance ran warm. It was more impressed by low-light results, which it found well exposed with controlled noise, and said the 2x zoom shots were a “very pleasant surprise”.

The weak points are clearer. GSMArena described the ultra-wide as “so-so”, the 2MP macro as underwhelming, and selfies from the 16MP front camera as okay with frequent white balance errors. Video tops out at 4K 30fps, stabilisation was “not the best”, and the ultra-wide cannot record 4K. If you shoot a lot of video while walking, newer phones will serve you better.

POCO X7 Pro: the direct successor. According to GSMArena, it moves to the Dimensity 8400 Ultra, adds a much larger battery on the India model, charges at 90W and has IP68/IP69 protection. It also launched with HyperOS 2 on Android 15, a year newer than the X6 Pro.

POCO X8 Pro: the current model in the series. POCO’s spec sheet lists the Dimensity 8500-Ultra, a 6,500mAh battery, 100W charging, a 6.59-inch 1.5K screen with 3840Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass 7i. 91mobiles lists its India launch as 17 March 2026.

realme GT 7T: a different take on the same idea. realme India lists the Dimensity 8400-MAX, a 7,000mAh battery, a 120W charger in the box and IP68/IP69 protection, which makes it a strong pick if battery life is your main concern.

If water resistance and a longer update window matter more to you than raw speed, our Samsung Galaxy A26 5G review looks at a slower but very different option.

Is the POCO X6 Pro right for you?

  • Choose it if you want flagship-like speed for gaming and multitasking and the price is clearly lower than the X7 Pro or X8 Pro.
  • Choose it if you watch a lot of video and want a sharp 1.5K AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision and dual speakers.
  • Skip it if you regularly get through a full charge before evening, because newer phones have 30% or more extra battery capacity.
  • Skip it if you work outdoors, travel in the rain or want a phone that can survive a dunk in water.
  • Skip it if you plan to keep your phone for four or more years and want updates for all of that time.

Before you add it to your cart

  • Check the variant: our link opened the Racing Grey 8GB + 256GB model. Confirm colour, RAM and storage on the listing before ordering.
  • Check the seller: the X6 Pro first went on sale in India through Flipkart. On Amazon.in, check who the seller is and whether the listing mentions a brand warranty valid in India.
  • Check the box: POCO’s package list includes the phone, a 67W adapter, USB Type-C cable, protective case and SIM tool, though POCO says contents can vary by region.
  • No memory card: POCO’s spec sheet does not list a microSD slot, so make sure 256GB is enough.
  • Update status: after setup, install any pending system updates and confirm the security patch date.
  • Service: keep your invoice and check the nearest Xiaomi service centre, since the phone may need battery service later in its life.

Final word

The POCO X6 Pro 5G is still a fast phone with a great screen, strong speakers and quick charging, and GSMArena’s lab results back that up. Its age shows in battery capacity, IP54 durability and a software window that started in 2024. Buy it as a value pick, not as a long-term flagship substitute: if the price is well below the POCO X7 Pro, X8 Pro or realme GT 7T, it can still be a smart buy. If the gap is small, the newer phones are the better investment.
