The SJCAM C300 is a modular 4K action camera that works as a tiny pocket camera on its own and as a handheld vlogging camera when you attach its 2,800mAh grip battery module. SJCAM’s official page lists 4K at 30fps, 2K at 60fps, 1080p at 120fps, 20MP photos, dual 1.3-inch touchscreens, six-axis gyro stabilisation and dual-band Wi-Fi, with up to 6 hours of continuous HD recording claimed using the larger battery. It suits vloggers, walkers and casual live-streamers more than hardcore adventure users.

The Amazon.in listing covered here (ASIN B0C4PC8G2Q) is the C300 with Handheld Grip in Black. That means the camera unit plus the battery grip module and a waterproof case for the pocket unit, per the package list on the listing. It is not the lighter C300 Pocket-only kit, which SJCAM lists separately with just the 1,000mAh battery.

Please note: this article is based on SJCAM’s official C300 page and the Amazon.in listing, both checked on 17 October 2026, not on hands-on testing. We could not find an independent test of the C300 to quote, so performance claims below are SJCAM’s or the seller’s.

C300 at a glance

  • Ideal for: walking vlogs, travel diaries, cycling, desk live-streams and people who want one small camera that clips to clothing or sits in a grip
  • Look elsewhere if: you want to film underwater while holding the grip, need a large sensor for night shots, or want a single rugged body that is waterproof without a case
  • Highlights: modular pocket-plus-grip design, dual 1.3-inch touchscreens, 6-axis EIS, 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, 60-second pre-recording, live streaming support
  • Drawbacks: small screens, 4K limited to 30fps, waterproof case fits only the pocket unit, no microSD card in the listed box contents, sensor size not published

Two cameras in one: pocket mode and grip mode

The C300’s main idea is modularity. In pocket mode, the small camera body runs on its own 1,000mAh battery and, according to the listing, can use SJCAM’s magnetic accessories to clip onto clothing for hands-free shooting while running or walking. Clip on the 2,800mAh battery module and it becomes a handheld grip camera for selfie vlogs, webcam use or live streams, and the listing says it can also be fitted to a selfie stick or used as a dash cam or helmet camera (some of those accessories are not included).

There is one important catch in the listing: the grip version does not fit the waterproof case. If you want to dive or swim with the C300, you must remove the grip and use the pocket unit in the case, which means relying on the smaller battery underwater. Plan swims and snorkelling sessions around that.

Video and photo quality on paper

SJCAM lists 4K at 30fps as the top video mode, with 2K at 60fps and 1080p at up to 120fps. For most vlogging and travel, 2K60 is a sensible middle ground: higher detail than 1080p with smoother motion than 4K30. The 1080p120 mode lets you produce slow motion at a quarter of normal speed in editing. Photos go up to 20MP in JPG.

SJCAM does not publish the sensor size or model on the C300 page. It does promote a “super night vision” mode and says the camera’s enhanced low-light performance helps capture brighter, clearer footage in dim environments. Without a published sensor size or an independent test, we cannot judge how good that is, so treat night performance as unproven.

The 154-degree field of view is a little narrower than the 170 degrees SJCAM lists for the SJ4000 Dual Screen. That generally means slightly less fisheye distortion at the edges, which helps for talking-head vlogs where your face sits near the centre.

Stabilisation and the 6-axis gyro

SJCAM describes six-axis gyro image stabilisation, and the Amazon listing claims “gimbal-like” smoothness. Gyro-based EIS reads motion sensors to counter shake digitally, usually with a small crop. It is a clear step up from cameras with no stabilisation for walking and cycling footage, but the “gimbal-like” wording is a marketing claim we could not verify. A real mechanical gimbal and higher-end action cameras typically handle low light and heavy vibration better.

Screens, controls and the vlogging experience

Both screens are 1.3-inch touchscreens, according to SJCAM, so you can frame yourself from the front and navigate menus by touch. The small size is the trade-off for a compact pocket body: menus and playback are cramped compared with a 2-inch rear screen, and checking focus or exposure in bright sun may be harder. For framing and quick setting changes, the touch control is still a convenience that button-only budget cameras lack.

Audio comes from a digital microphone, per SJCAM. The official page does not list external microphone support, so for better voice quality you may need to record audio separately on a phone or recorder and sync it in editing.

Battery life claims

SJCAM’s headline claim is “up to 6 hours of continuous recording” with the 2,800mAh grip module, and the official spec table qualifies it as continuous HD recording. 4K recording, Wi-Fi streaming and screen use will reduce that, and the claim has not been independently tested. The pocket unit’s 1,000mAh battery will last much less, and SJCAM does not quote a separate runtime for it. Charging is via USB Type-C at 5V 2A, which makes it easy to top up from a phone charger or power bank.

Wi-Fi, live streaming and pre-recording

The C300 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. That matters for the SJCAM Zone app: 5GHz usually transfers clips faster to your phone when you are close by, while 2.4GHz has better range. SJCAM lists live streaming as supported, and the Amazon listing says it can connect to home Wi-Fi to act as a network live-stream camera.

The 60-second pre-recording feature, listed by SJCAM, is useful for unpredictable moments. With it switched on, the camera keeps a rolling buffer so that when you press record, the previous minute is saved too. It is handy for wildlife, sports and kids, though it will use more battery while waiting.

Storage and what is in the box

The listing’s package contents are: the camera, a battery module, a waterproof case, a frame mount, a base back clip, a back clip, a lanyard, a base mount, two curved and flat mounts, a long screw, two adhesive stickers, a USB cable, a wipe cloth and a user manual. A microSD card is not in that list, even though the listing talks about what a 32GB card can store, so budget for one. SJCAM supports cards up to 128GB.

The listing estimates that a 32GB card holds 2-3 hours of 4K video or about 1,500 20MP photos. Treat that as a rough guide, since file size depends on scene complexity and settings.

Who should buy the SJCAM C300?

The C300 makes sense if you want one small camera that can be a clip-on body cam for walks and runs, a grip camera for travel vlogs, and an occasional webcam or live-stream camera at home. The long claimed runtime with the grip and Type-C charging are practical advantages for long days out. It is also a good fit if you like touch controls but do not need large screens.

Who should skip it?

Skip it if water sports are your main use and you want long battery life underwater, since only the pocket unit fits the case. Skip it too if you want proven low-light video, 4K at 60fps, larger screens, or an external mic input. Riders who want the smoothest helmet footage should compare more expensive cameras with published stabilisation tests.

Alternatives to compare

  • SJCAM SJ4000 Dual Screen: a simpler dual-screen design with a 2-inch rear and 1.3-inch front screen, 4K30, 1080p60, 16MP photos and a removable 900mAh battery, but SJCAM lists no stabilisation, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only and Micro USB.
  • FitSpark Eagle i15 Pro Max: according to its Amazon.in listing, 4K30, 2.7K60, 1080p120, EIS 2.0 with 6-axis gyro, a 2-inch rear and 1.4-inch front screen, a 30 m case and support for FitSpark’s own Type-C mic.
  • DJI Osmo Action 4: a premium option with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 4K up to 120fps, larger front and rear touchscreens, RockSteady stabilisation and 18 m waterproofing without a case, per DJI’s official specs.

Before you order

SJCAM C300 buying checklist
What to check before you buy the SJCAM C300.
  • Confirm the listing title says C300 with Handheld Grip in Black, not the Pocket-only version
  • Buy a U3 or V30 microSD card up to 128GB, since the listed box contents do not include one
  • Remember the waterproof case fits the pocket unit only, not the grip
  • Check warranty length and whether SJCAM service is available in India through the seller
  • Install the SJCAM Zone app and pair the camera at home before a trip
  • Use a 5V 2A Type-C charger or power bank for top-ups

Frequently asked questions

Is the SJCAM C300 waterproof?

Not on its own. SJCAM rates it to 30 metres inside the waterproof case, and the listing says only the pocket unit fits the case, not the grip version.

How long does the SJCAM C300 battery last?

SJCAM claims up to 6 hours of continuous HD recording with the 2,800mAh grip module. The pocket unit has a 1,000mAh battery with no separate runtime quoted. Neither figure has been independently tested.

Does the SJCAM C300 have image stabilisation?

Yes. SJCAM lists six-axis gyro electronic image stabilisation.

Can the SJCAM C300 be used for live streaming?

SJCAM lists live streaming as supported, and the Amazon listing says it can connect to home Wi-Fi as a network live-stream camera.

Does the C300 come with a memory card?

The listing’s package contents do not include a microSD card. Buy one separately, up to 128GB.

Final take

The SJCAM C300 stands out among budget action cameras for its modular pocket-plus-grip design, touchscreens on both sides, gyro stabilisation, dual-band Wi-Fi and a long claimed runtime with the grip. Its weak spots are small screens, an unpublished sensor, 4K capped at 30fps, and a case that fits only the pocket unit. For everyday vlogging and travel, it is a well-rounded option.
