The boAt Nirvana 751 ANC is a budget over-ear Bluetooth headphone with hybrid active noise cancellation rated at up to 33dB, a claimed 65 hours of playback with ANC off (54 hours with ANC on), Bluetooth 5.0 and a wired AUX option. It makes sense if long battery life and basic noise cancellation matter more to you than refined sound. If audio quality is your top priority, the one detailed independent review we found suggests you should look elsewhere.

boAt sells this model as the “Nirvanaa 751 ANC” on its own website, and it first went on sale in India in February 2022. The Amazon.in listing our link opens (checked on 17 October 2026) is the Sterling Silver colour, and its title mentions hybrid ANC (~33dB), 65 hours of battery, fast charge, ambient mode and a carry pouch.

This article is based on boAt’s official product specifications and published reviews, not on hands-on testing by GadgetSoch. Specs were checked on 17 October 2026.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: commuters, students and work-from-home users who want ANC and very long battery life on a tight budget
  • Skip if: you care most about detailed, clean sound, want app-based EQ, or need strong ANC for flights
  • Key strengths: 65-hour claimed battery (54 hours with ANC), hybrid ANC with ambient mode, USB Type-C, fast charging, wired AUX input, physical controls with voice assistant access
  • Key limitations: Bluetooth 5.0 with no companion app, codec support not published, independent reviewer rated sound quality and ANC as weak points, and the design is now several years old

Design, build and comfort

The Nirvana 751 ANC uses a traditional over-ear layout with large cushioned earcups. Controls are physical buttons rather than touch panels, which many buyers prefer because they work reliably with gloves or sweaty fingers and do not trigger by accident when you adjust the headband.

According to Geekman’s review (published February 2022), the headphones weigh about 270 grams, use plastic with metal at the headband and hinges, and the earcups both fold and swivel up to 90 degrees. The reviewer rated build and design as strengths and found the padding comfortable for multi-hour sessions. Readers in the comments said the fit felt tight for larger ears, and the reviewer lowered his comfort score after that feedback. boAt itself does not publish the weight, so treat the 270g figure as the reviewer’s measurement, not an official spec.

Why this matters: at around 270g, it is heavier than some rivals, so if you wear glasses or have a larger head, check the clamping force before you commit.

Noise cancellation and ambient mode

boAt rates the hybrid ANC at up to 33dB. “Hybrid” means the headphones use both outward-facing and inward-facing microphones to sample noise, which generally works better on low, steady sounds like fan hum, AC units, bus engines and train rumble than on sudden or high-pitched noise such as voices or clattering dishes.

The 33dB figure is boAt’s own claim and the company does not publish its test method. For context, newer boAt models such as the Rockerz Plus 450 ANC are rated at up to 40dB, so the Nirvana 751 ANC sits at the lower end of the current range on paper.

Geekman’s reviewer described the ANC as working and decent for the money but scored it as average, noting it fell short of rival ANC headphones in the same bracket, particularly with airplane noise. A dedicated button on the left earcup switches between ANC and ambient mode, which lets outside sound in so you can hear announcements or a colleague without removing the headphones.

Sound quality: the biggest question mark

On paper the Nirvana 751 ANC uses 40mm drivers with boAt’s bass-forward “signature sound” tuning and a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response. Those numbers are typical for this class and do not tell you much about how the headphones actually sound.

Geekman’s review was critical here. The reviewer said the output sounded flat with boosted bass that lacked depth, vocals and treble missed detail, and he heard distortion at around 70% volume. Sound quality received his lowest score, and it was his main reason for not recommending the headphones to buyers who prioritise audio.

Why this matters: since there is no companion app, you cannot adjust an equaliser on the headphones themselves. If you want to change the tuning, you will have to rely on your phone’s built-in EQ or a music app’s EQ. That limits how much you can correct a tuning you do not like.

Battery life and charging

Battery is the strongest part of the spec sheet. boAt claims up to 65 hours with ANC off and up to 54 hours with ANC on, which is enough for more than a week of daily commuting and office use for most people. A full charge takes about an hour over USB Type-C, according to boAt, and its FAQ says you can use the headphones while they charge.

boAt’s ASAP Charge is the fast charging feature. TelecomTalk and 91mobiles both report that a 10-minute charge gives about 10 hours of playback. boAt’s current product page describes ASAP Charge only in general terms, so treat the 10-hour figure as the launch claim.

Geekman’s reviewer reported roughly 40 hours with ANC off, short of the 65-hour claim but still good for the segment in his view.

Connectivity, controls and calls

The headphones use Bluetooth 5.0 with a stated 10m range. boAt does not list supported codecs, so assume standard SBC and do not expect high-resolution wireless audio. Multipoint (staying connected to a phone and a laptop at the same time) is not mentioned on the official page. boAt’s “dual compatibility” refers to Bluetooth plus wired AUX, not two Bluetooth devices at once.

The AUX input is a useful extra for laptops, in-flight systems or older audio sources.

Physical controls cover power, calls, volume and track skipping, and a double tap brings up Google Assistant on Android or Siri on an iPhone. For calls, boAt lists quad mics with ENx noise reduction. Geekman’s reviewer found the microphone decent and comparable to others in the segment, and said Bluetooth pairing was easy with a stable connection.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Who should buy the boAt Nirvana 751 ANC
Who the boAt Nirvana 751 ANC suits, summarised from this review.

Buy it if you

  • want ANC on a strict budget and mostly need it for steady background noise at home, in the office or on a bus
  • value battery life above everything else and hate charging every few days
  • want a wired AUX fallback for laptops, older devices or flights
  • prefer physical buttons over touch controls

Skip it if you

  • care most about clear vocals, detailed treble and clean sound at higher volume
  • fly often and want strong ANC for cabin noise
  • need multipoint pairing, a companion app or a custom EQ
  • want a lighter headphone or have a larger head and dislike tight clamping

Alternatives worth comparing

boAt Rockerz Plus 450 ANC: boAt’s newer over-ear option is rated for up to 40dB hybrid ANC, up to 80 hours with ANC off (57 hours with ANC on) and uses Bluetooth 6.0. If you like boAt but want a more recent platform, read our boAt Rockerz Plus 450 ANC review.

Noise Airwave Max 5: Noise lists adaptive hybrid ANC up to 50dB, 40mm drivers, up to 80 hours of playback at about 60% volume and dual device pairing. See our Noise Airwave Max 5 review for details.

Sony WH-CH720N: Sony’s spec page lists 30mm drivers, up to 35 hours with noise cancelling on (50 hours off), Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC and AAC, and a weight of about 192g. Sony’s product page also says it can connect to two devices at once. It is far lighter than the boAt, with less battery life.

JBL Tune 770NC: JBL lists 40mm drivers, adaptive noise cancelling with Smart Ambient, up to 70 hours with ANC off (44 hours with ANC on), Bluetooth 5.3, multipoint, a flat-folding design, 232g weight and support for the JBL Headphones app.

What to check before you order

boAt Nirvana 751 ANC buying checklist
What to check before you buy the boAt Nirvana 751 ANC.
  • Colour and variant: our link opens the Sterling Silver version. Confirm the colour on the listing before you buy, as Amazon may show a different default.
  • Box contents: boAt’s page lists the headphones, a Type-C cable, user manual, warranty card and paperwork. The Amazon title mentions a carry pouch, and Geekman reported an AUX cable in the box, but boAt’s own list does not mention either, so check the listing.
  • Warranty: boAt’s page says 1 year in its FAQ and also mentions 12 months plus 3 months extended for purchases from 15 April 2025 with a valid serial number. Confirm the current terms on the listing or with boAt.
  • Seller: buy from a listing sold or fulfilled by a trusted seller so warranty registration with boAt is straightforward.
  • Compatibility: works with any Bluetooth phone, tablet or laptop, plus wired devices via AUX. There is no companion app to install.
  • Age of the model: it launched in early 2022 with Bluetooth 5.0, so compare it with newer options before buying.

Final word

The boAt Nirvana 751 ANC still makes a strong case on paper: hybrid ANC, ambient mode, a 65-hour claimed battery, fast charging and a wired AUX fallback. The trade-offs are an older Bluetooth 5.0 platform, no app or published codec support, and an independent review that rated its sound and ANC as weak points. Buy it for battery life and convenience, not for audio quality.
