The RØDE Wireless ME Dual is a compact two-transmitter wireless microphone kit that lets you record two people, plus a third voice through a microphone built into the receiver, into a phone, camera or computer. It is aimed at creators, interviewers and small video teams who want reliable, simple audio without fiddling with gain settings. The short verdict: on paper it is a simple, beginner-friendly dual kit, thanks to automatic GainAssist levels and broad device support, but RØDE does not list on-board recording backup and the receiver has no external mic input.

This article is based on RØDE’s official product pages, Sound On Sound’s published review of the Wireless ME, and the Amazon.in listing data captured on 17 October 2026. We have not tested the kit hands-on. Where the Amazon listing disagrees with RØDE, we say so and trust RØDE’s own page.

The affiliate link in this article points to the Wireless ME Dual set in Black (model WIMEDUAL), which, according to RØDE, includes two transmitters and one receiver. RØDE also sells a single set with one transmitter, which is a different product and listing.

How the Dual set works: two transmitters, three voices

Each transmitter is a small clip-on unit with its own omnidirectional microphone, so you can clip one on each speaker without running any cables. The receiver sits on your phone or camera and collects both signals. According to the Amazon.in listing, the Dual set records the two subjects to separate channels on your device, which matters in editing: if one person coughs or speaks over the other, you can lower just that track.

The unusual extra is the microphone inside the receiver. RØDE says that with two transmitters you can capture three microphones at once, counting the receiver’s own mic. In practice this lets the person holding the phone or camera ask questions or add a voice-over without wearing a third transmitter. Sound On Sound’s Paul White called this receiver mic “invaluable” for recording a conversation between the operator and a third party.

Sound On Sound also notes that the transmitter has a mini-jack input for an external lavalier, which is useful if you want the microphone hidden under clothing rather than visible on a collar. The receiver, however, has no external microphone input, according to the same review.

GainAssist: why automatic levels help beginners

A common wireless-mic mistake is setting the level too high, so a sudden laugh distorts (clips), or too low, so the voice is buried in noise. RØDE’s GainAssist uses algorithms to set the level automatically and prevent clipping, even if the speaker suddenly gets louder, according to RØDE and the Amazon.in listing.

Sound On Sound describes two GainAssist behaviours: an auto mode that aims for a consistent level, suited to moving sources, and a dynamic mode that keeps more of the natural rise and fall of a voice while still stabilising the overall level. GainAssist can also be switched off for manual gain. Beginners can leave it on, while experienced editors can turn it off. RØDE’s page says settings and firmware updates are handled through the RØDE Central app.

Connecting to phones, cameras and computers

RØDE lists cameras, Windows and macOS computers, iPhones and Android phones as compatible. The receiver has a 3.5mm analogue output for cameras and a USB connection for phones and computers. Sound On Sound reports that over USB the receiver appears as an audio interface, and that recording works well in the free RØDE Connect software on a computer.

  • Phones: connect over USB with the supplied cable. RØDE also mentions an optional MagClip GO that attaches the receiver to magnet-compatible phones.
  • Cameras: use the 3.5mm analogue output into the camera’s microphone input, and turn the camera’s own input level down to avoid adding hiss.
  • Computers: the USB connection suits Zoom, Teams and streaming, and the listing also names video calls as a use.
  • Apps: RØDE Capture requires iOS 16 or later. RØDE Central supports iOS 14 or later, Android 9.0 or later, macOS 11 or later and Windows 10 version 1803 or later.

The Wireless ME is also part of RØDE’s Series IV ecosystem. RØDE lists compatibility with Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO, RØDECaster Duo, RØDECaster Pro II and Streamer X, and says up to two transmitters can pair with the RØDECaster Pro II.

Range, encryption and real-world caveats

RØDE quotes over 100m of range with Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission and 128-bit encryption. Encryption helps keep private interviews private. As with any 2.4GHz system, range depends on line of sight. Sound On Sound found the line-of-sight range generous, but saw dropouts as the reviewer moved further away and into rooms separated by brick walls, while noting that most interview work will not involve that kind of distance.

Because RØDE’s Wireless ME page does not list on-board recording, a dropout means lost audio. Keep the transmitters within sight of the receiver, avoid putting your body between transmitter and receiver, and monitor through headphones when it matters.

Battery life and charging

RØDE rates the built-in lithium-ion battery at up to 7 hours. Sound On Sound adds that the units charge from any 5V USB source and that the transmitter LED flashes green while charging and stays steady when full. Seven hours covers a full shoot day for most creators if you charge overnight, but there is no charging case listed on RØDE’s page, so a power bank is a sensible companion for event or travel shoots.

Where the Amazon.in listing differs from RØDE

Several Amazon.in listing fields do not match RØDE’s own information:

  • The listing’s connectivity field says Wi-Fi and its special features mention Bluetooth. RØDE describes the system as Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission.
  • The listing says “3 A batteries required (included)”. RØDE says the units use built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
  • The listing gives a frequency range of 50Hz to 18kHz. Sound On Sound lists 20Hz to 20kHz.
  • The listing’s box contents include 2x MagClip GO, while RØDE’s page describes the MagClip GO as sold separately. Confirm this on the listing before relying on it.

According to the Amazon.in listing, the box contains 2x transmitter, 1x receiver, 1x SC21, 2x SC22, 1x SC2, 1x SC7 cables, 3x furry windshields, 2x MagClip GO and a carry pouch.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Who should buy the Wireless ME Dual
Who the Wireless ME Dual suits, summarised from this review.

Buy it if you film two-person interviews or conversations on a phone or mirrorless camera, want automatic levels, and value a third microphone in the receiver for the person behind the camera. It also suits teachers and small businesses recording talks or video calls, and anyone already using RØDE’s Series IV gear. For a wider view of a beginner setup, see our YouTube starter kit guide.

Look elsewhere if you shoot events where a missed word cannot be re-recorded, because on-board backup recording is not listed. Also look elsewhere if you need timecode, very long range, or a charging case for long days away from power.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • RØDE Wireless GO II: RØDE lists up to 200m line-of-sight range, over 40 hours of internal memory for on-board recording, 3.5mm TRS and USB-C outputs, and the option to record each channel separately or combined.
  • RØDE Wireless PRO: RØDE lists 32-bit float on-board recording, 32GB per transmitter, range up to 260m, timecode, a smart charging case and two Lavalier II mics in the kit.
  • DJI Mic Mini: DJI lists two-level active noise cancelling, up to 48 hours of operation with the charging case, and DJI OsmoAudio direct connection.
  • NEEWER CM32: a budget two-transmitter kit with a USB Type-C receiver and a charging case, according to NEEWER.

Buying checklist for India

Wireless ME Dual buying checklist
What to check before you buy the Wireless ME Dual.
  • Confirm the variant: this link is the Dual set (two transmitters) in Black. The single set has one transmitter and is a separate listing.
  • Check your phone port: make sure the cables in the box match your phone’s port before you rely on it for a shoot.
  • Check box contents: verify on the listing whether MagClip GO clips are included, as the listing and RØDE’s page disagree.
  • Warranty and service: the Amazon.in listing does not state warranty terms. RØDE’s website has a warranty section, so check the terms there and keep your invoice and seller details.
  • Update firmware: install RØDE Central and update the firmware before the first important recording.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Wireless ME Dual record two people on separate tracks?

Yes. According to the Amazon.in listing, the two transmitters and dual-channel receiver capture two subjects at once and record them to separate channels on your device.

Does the Wireless ME have on-board recording?

RØDE’s Wireless ME page does not list on-board recording, and Sound On Sound’s review does not mention it. If you need a backup recording inside the transmitter, RØDE’s Wireless GO II and Wireless PRO list internal recording.

Does it work with iPhone and Android?

RØDE lists both iPhone and Android smartphones as compatible over USB. Check that the supplied cables match your phone’s port, and note that RØDE Capture needs iOS 16 or later.

Can I plug in a separate lavalier mic?

According to Sound On Sound, the transmitter has a mini-jack input for an external lavalier or camera mic. The receiver has no external microphone input.

Final word

The RØDE Wireless ME Dual is a straightforward way to record two people cleanly, with the bonus of a receiver microphone for the person behind the camera. GainAssist, encryption and wide device support make it beginner-friendly, and Sound On Sound described its audio as clear and natural for such small devices. The trade-offs are the 7-hour battery, no listed on-board backup recording and an Amazon listing with some inaccurate fields, so confirm the variant and contents before you order.
