Is the boAt Airdopes Ace worth considering? For a first pair of budget true wireless earbuds, it can be: boAt claims up to 35 hours of total playback with the case, 13mm drivers, dual microphones with ENx for calls, BEAST Mode for low latency, ASAP Charge and an IPX5 rating. What it does not offer is active noise cancellation, and boAt now sells a newer Airdopes Ace Gen 2 with a longer battery claim and more mics, so it pays to know exactly which model you are buying.

This article covers the original Airdopes Ace in Active Black, the colour on our Amazon.in link. It is based on boAt’s official product page and the Amazon.in listing, both checked on 17 October 2026. We have not tested these earbuds, and we could not find an independent review with measured battery, latency or call results, so you will only find manufacturer and listing claims here, clearly labelled.

Verdict in brief

  • Best for: first-time TWS buyers, students and commuters who want long claimed battery life, quick top-ups and simple touch controls
  • Skip if: you want ANC, a published Bluetooth version or codec details, multipoint connection, or the newest model in the range
  • Strengths: 35-hour claim, ASAP Charge (10 minutes for up to 2 hours), 13mm drivers, IPX5, IWP auto pairing, voice assistant on a tap
  • Limitations: no ANC, only two mics in total, Bluetooth version not stated, and the Gen 2 model offers higher figures on paper

Airdopes Ace or Airdopes Ace Gen 2? Know the difference

This is the most common mix-up with this product. boAt’s newer Airdopes Ace Gen 2 is listed on boAt’s site with up to 45 hours of playtime, ASAP Charge of 10 minutes for 150 minutes, Bluetooth 5.4, quad mics with ENx, 50ms BEAST Mode and IPX5. The original Airdopes Ace, which this article and our link cover, is rated for 35 hours, 120 minutes from a 10-minute charge and dual mics.

Both share 13mm drivers and IPX5, so the names and photos can look alike in search results. Before ordering, read the listing title carefully. Our link points to ASIN B0D31RSPZ4, the original Ace in Active Black.

Battery and charging

boAt rates the Airdopes Ace at up to 35 hours of total playtime. That figure includes recharges from the case, and boAt does not separately publish how long the earbuds last on a single charge. In real use, playback times depend on volume, BEAST Mode and call time, so treat 35 hours as a best-case number rather than a promise.

The more practical feature for many people is ASAP Charge. boAt says 10 minutes of charging gives up to 120 minutes of playback, which covers a typical commute if you forget to charge overnight. The Amazon.in listing gives a full charge time of 1.5 hours and a USB Type-C port, so the same cable as most current Android phones should work. There is no charger adapter in the box per the listing.

Sound and the 13mm drivers

Each earbud uses a 13mm dynamic driver, and the Amazon.in listing markets it as “boAt Signature Sound”. We have not listened to the Airdopes Ace and found no independent sound review to quote, so we cannot say how it handles vocals, detail or treble.

A bigger driver does not automatically mean better audio. What it can mean is more room for bass at moderate volumes. Fit matters just as much: the listing describes passive sound isolation only, so a proper seal from the eartips is what keeps out traffic noise and keeps the bass intact. If the sound seems thin, try a different eartip size before blaming the drivers.

Calls: dual mics with ENx

boAt lists dual microphones with its ENx environmental noise reduction, meaning one mic per earbud. ENx works on your outgoing voice, trying to reduce background noise for the person you are talking to. It does not reduce noise for you as the listener.

Two mics in total is the basic setup for budget earbuds. Models with four mics, such as the Ace Gen 2, typically have more data to separate your voice from background sound, though the real result depends on tuning. If you take many calls from busy roads, keep this in mind.

Gaming, controls and pairing

BEAST Mode is boAt’s low-latency mode for games and videos. boAt’s product page calls it “ultra-low latency” without a figure, while the Amazon.in listing quotes 50ms. Lower latency helps keep sound in sync with what you see on screen in casual mobile games, but results also depend on your phone, and we have no independent measurement.

IWP (Insta Wake N’ Pair) means the earbuds start pairing as soon as you open the case, after the first setup. Touch controls handle volume, track skip and answering calls, and boAt mentions a one-touch voice assistant. Touch controls can trigger accidentally when adjusting the earbuds, so it is worth learning the gestures from the manual early.

Neither boAt nor the listing mentions dual-device pairing, a companion app or codec support, so do not assume those features are present.

Water resistance and durability

The IPX5 rating means the earbuds are designed to resist sweat and water splashes, which is useful for gym sessions and rainy commutes. It does not cover submersion. boAt does not say the charging case is water resistant, so dry the earbuds before placing them back in the case.

Who should buy it and who should not

Who should buy the Airdopes Ace
Who the Airdopes Ace suits, summarised from this review.

Buy the Airdopes Ace if you want an easy first pair of wireless earbuds with long claimed battery life, quick top-ups, sweat resistance and voice-assistant access, and you mostly listen on one phone.

Look elsewhere if you need ANC for flights or loud offices, you want stronger call pickup in noisy places, or you care about knowing the Bluetooth version and codecs. If the newer Gen 2 fits your budget, its higher battery claim and quad mics are worth comparing first.

Alternatives to compare

  • boAt Airdopes Ace Gen 2: boAt lists up to 45 hours of playtime, 13mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.4, quad mics with ENx, 50ms BEAST Mode, ASAP Charge of 10 minutes for 150 minutes and IPX5
  • boAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2: up to 48 hours with the case, Bluetooth 5.4, four mics with ENx, 65ms BEAST Mode and IPX4, with no ANC

Before you order: a quick checklist

Airdopes Ace buying checklist
What to check before you buy the Airdopes Ace.
  • Model: make sure the title says Airdopes Ace, not Ace Gen 2, and that the ASIN is B0D31RSPZ4 if you want the exact product covered here
  • Colour: our link is for Active Black. Starry Blue and Davys Green are separate variants
  • Warranty: the Amazon.in listing states 1 year from the date of purchase. boAt’s page mentions an extra 3 months only for purchases made on boAt’s own website or app, so do not expect that on an Amazon order. Register the product and keep your invoice
  • Box contents: earbuds with case, charging cable and user manual per the listing. No adapter
  • Phone compatibility: Bluetooth earbuds work with Android and iPhone, but the listing’s compatible-devices field is unhelpful, so confirm features like voice assistant behave on your phone after setup

If everything matches, see the Airdopes Ace in Active Black on Amazon.in.

Frequently asked questions

Does the boAt Airdopes Ace have ANC?

No. The Amazon.in listing lists passive sound isolation, and boAt’s page does not mention ANC. The ENx feature only reduces background noise on calls.

What is the battery life of the boAt Airdopes Ace?

boAt claims up to 35 hours of total playback including the case, and up to 120 minutes from a 10-minute ASAP Charge. boAt does not publish a single-charge earbud figure.

Is the Airdopes Ace good for gaming?

It has BEAST Mode, rated at 50ms on the Amazon.in listing. That suits casual mobile gaming and video. For competitive gaming, wired earphones have lower delay.

Is the boAt Airdopes Ace waterproof?

It is rated IPX5, which covers sweat and splashes, not submersion. Do not swim or shower with it.

What is the difference between Airdopes Ace and Airdopes Ace Gen 2?

According to boAt, the Gen 2 raises total playtime to 45 hours, moves to Bluetooth 5.4, doubles the mics to four and gives 150 minutes from a 10-minute charge. The original Ace has 35 hours, dual mics and 120 minutes from 10 minutes.

Final thoughts

The boAt Airdopes Ace covers the basics that most first-time TWS buyers ask for: long claimed battery life, quick charging, sweat resistance, simple pairing and touch controls. Its limits are equally clear: no ANC, only two mics and less published technical detail than newer rivals. If those trade-offs work for you, check the current price of the boAt Airdopes Ace on Amazon.in and confirm the Active Black variant before checkout.
