The Logitech MK270r is a full-size wireless keyboard and mouse combo that connects through a single 2.4 GHz USB receiver, runs on ordinary AA and AAA batteries, and is rated by Logitech for up to 36 months of keyboard battery life and 12 months for the mouse. For most Indian home and office users who just want a reliable, no-fuss desktop setup with a number pad, it is a sensible, low-risk pick; it is not for anyone who wants backlit keys, Bluetooth, multi-device switching or a quiet keyboard.

The MK270r is the India-market version of Logitech’s long-running global MK270 combo. Logitech India sells it under the MK270r name with the same headline claims as the global model: a 10-metre wireless range, eight media keys, a spill-resistant keyboard tested with up to 60 ml of liquid, and a compact ambidextrous mouse.

How this article was put together: this review is based on Logitech’s official product pages and data sheet, plus Indian retailer specification listings, all checked on 17 October 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing, and we do not make claims about how it feels or performs in personal use.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: home PCs, office desks, students and anyone connecting a full keyboard and mouse to a laptop that stays on a desk
  • Skip if: you need Bluetooth, backlighting, Mac-specific keys, a silent keyboard or the ability to switch between several computers
  • Key strengths: full-size layout with number pad, rated 36-month keyboard and 12-month mouse battery life, 10 m range, one receiver for both devices, 60 ml spill resistance, 3-year limited hardware warranty listed by Logitech
  • Key limitations: USB receiver only (no Bluetooth), no backlight or lock-key indicator lights, basic 1000 DPI mouse with no DPI adjustment, small mouse that may feel cramped for large hands, officially listed for Windows and ChromeOS only

MK270r vs MK270: what the “r” means for Indian buyers

Based on Logitech’s own documents, the MK270 and MK270r belong to the same product family. Logitech’s global MK270 data sheet lists many regional part numbers for the combo, including an India keyboard layout (“IND”) under part number 920-006316. Croma’s Indian listing for the MK270R gives that same 920-006316 model number.

Logitech India’s MK270r page repeats the global MK270’s main claims: 2.4 GHz wireless with a 10 m range, 36-month and 12-month battery life ratings, eight media controls, a number pad, tilt legs, on/off switches and the same 60 ml spill test. Logitech does not publicly explain what the “r” suffix stands for, so the safest reading is that the MK270r is the regional retail version of the MK270, not a redesigned product.

In practice, the differences that matter to you are the keyboard layout printed on the keys and the warranty and service channel. Check both on the listing before you buy.

Keyboard design: full-size, simple and spill-resistant

The MK270r keyboard is a standard full-size layout with a dedicated number pad, arrow keys and function keys. That matters if you enter numbers in Excel, Tally or billing software every day, because a number pad is much faster than the row above the letters.

Above the main keys sit eight media and shortcut keys. They cover common playback and volume controls.

The keyboard measures 442 x 149 x 18 mm and weighs 498 g according to Logitech’s data sheet. The tilt legs give two positions, flat or 8 degrees, so you can choose the typing angle that suits your desk height.

Logitech describes the keyboard as spill-resistant, tested with a maximum of 60 ml of liquid. That is roughly a small splash of tea or water, not a full cup. Logitech says the keyboard should not be immersed in liquid, and you should not treat it as waterproof.

What you do not get is also important. Logitech’s data sheet lists no backlighting and no illuminated Caps Lock or Num Lock indicators. If you often type in a dim room, or you rely on a light to tell you whether Num Lock is on, this omission will matter.

The mouse: compact, ambidextrous and basic

The included mouse is small: 99 x 60 x 39 mm and 75 g per Logitech. Its symmetrical shape is designed to work in either hand, which helps left-handed users and shared family PCs. The flip side is that people with large hands, or anyone who prefers to rest the whole palm on the mouse, may find it too small for long sessions.

Tracking is handled by an optical sensor at 1000 DPI, and scrolling is line by line through a mechanical wheel. That suits documents, browsing and spreadsheets, but it is not a gaming mouse and has no DPI button. Logitech’s data sheet rates the buttons for 5 million clicks.

The mouse uses one AA battery and has its own on/off switch, which helps save battery when you carry a laptop and mouse in a bag. Unlike the keyboard, Logitech lists no battery indicator for the mouse, so keep a spare AA cell handy.

Wireless connection and battery life in daily use

Both the keyboard and mouse share a single small USB receiver that is pre-paired at the factory, so in most cases you plug it in and start typing. Logitech says the receiver is small enough to leave plugged into a laptop. One receiver for both devices also saves a USB port.

The rated range is 10 metres, with Logitech noting that range can vary with the environment. That is more than enough for a desk, and leaves room for sofa-to-TV setups.

Battery life is where the MK270r stands out for a low-maintenance setup. Logitech rates the keyboard (2 x AAA) at up to 36 months and the mouse (1 x AA) at up to 12 months, with the usual caveat that real life depends on usage. Standard cells mean no charging, and replacements are available at any local shop. Logitech’s data sheet also lists an operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, worth keeping in mind for rooms without cooling in peak Indian summer.

Compatibility: Windows and ChromeOS officially

Logitech’s data sheet lists Windows 7, 8, 10 or later and ChromeOS as supported, and the Amazon.in listing title describes it as a combo for Windows PCs and laptops. It needs a free USB-A port for the receiver. If your laptop only has USB-C ports, you will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter or hub.

macOS and Linux are not on Logitech’s official compatibility list for this combo. We cannot confirm every media key works there, so Mac users are better served by a macOS-specific combo.

Alternatives worth comparing

These Logitech combos are worth comparing; details are from Logitech’s own product pages.

  • Logitech MK235: also full-size with a number pad and the same 36-month keyboard and 12-month mouse battery ratings and 60 ml spill test, but with 15 shortcut keys and anti-fade key treatment. Worth a look if you want more shortcut keys.
  • Logitech MK295 Silent: full numpad and eight shortcuts, with SilentTouch technology that Logitech says eliminates over 90 percent of keyboard and mouse noise. Better for shared rooms and open offices.
  • Logitech MK240: a minimalist, space-saving layout with a pre-paired receiver, 10 m range and up to three-year keyboard and one-year mouse battery life. Better if desk space matters more than having a number pad.

Buying tips: what to check before you order

Logitech MK270r buying checklist
What to check before you buy the Logitech MK270r.
  • Confirm the exact listing: the affiliate link on this page opens the Amazon.in listing titled as the Logitech MK270r Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo in black. Check the title, model name and photos before ordering, and avoid listings that say only “compatible with” Logitech.
  • Check the layout: Logitech offers many regional layouts of this combo. The India layout appears in Logitech’s data sheet as part number 920-006316. If the part number matters to you, confirm it on the listing or box.
  • Box contents: expect the keyboard, mouse and USB receiver. Whether batteries are included is not stated on the Logitech India page, so check the listing.
  • Warranty and seller: Logitech’s data sheet lists a 3-year limited hardware warranty. Keep your invoice, since warranty claims generally need proof of purchase, and check the warranty terms shown on the listing.
  • Ports: make sure your computer has a free USB-A port, or budget for an adapter.

It offers a full-size keyboard with a number pad, a small ambidextrous mouse, one shared receiver, long rated battery life and basic spill protection, backed by a listed 3-year limited hardware warranty.
