The boAt Airdopes ProClip are open-ear, clip-on wireless earbuds that hook onto the outer ear instead of sitting in the ear canal. They use 12mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 6.0 and claim up to 52 hours of total playback. They suit people who want to hear traffic, colleagues or family while listening, and who find in-ear buds uncomfortable. Anyone who wants deep bass or noise cancellation should look elsewhere.
Our Amazon.in link is for the Velvet Wine colour (model PP0121). This explainer draws on boAt’s official product page, the Amazon.in listing captured on 17 October 2026 and 91mobiles’ published review. We have not used the ProClip ourselves, so any comments on sound, comfort or battery in real use are attributed to 91mobiles.
Quick verdict
- Best for: all-day wear at a desk, walks and gym sessions where you need to hear your surroundings
- Skip if: you commute on noisy buses or trains, want strong bass or need noise cancellation
- Key strengths: 4.6g per earbud, clip-on open-ear fit, up to 52 hours total playback claim, Bluetooth 6.0, app with EQ and Private Mode
- Key limitations: open-ear sound has less bass and some leakage at high volume, IPX4 only, and 91mobiles reported that multipoint did not work as advertised in its testing
What “air conduction” and “open-ear” mean here
boAt describes the ProClip as using Air Conduction Technology. In simple terms, a small speaker sits just outside your ear canal and fires sound into it through the air. That is different from bone conduction headphones, which vibrate against your cheekbones, and from normal in-ear earbuds, which seal the ear canal with a silicone tip.
The open design has clear benefits. Nothing is pushed into your ear, so there is no in-ear pressure, and you stay aware of traffic, announcements and people speaking to you. For people who wear earbuds for many hours a day, or who find ear tips sore or itchy, this can be the main reason to buy. The trade-offs are just as real: without a seal, bass is weaker, outside noise mixes with your music, and some sound can escape to people near you.
One detail on the Amazon.in listing is misleading. Its technical table lists the ear placement as “In Ear”, but both boAt’s product page and the listing’s own feature bullets describe a clip-on, open-ear design that sits outside the ear canal.

Comfort and fit
At 4.6g per earbud, the ProClip is light. The clip design wraps around the outer ear, with a flexible bridge joining the boAt Airdopes ProClip part and the battery part. Because there are no ear tips, there is no sizing to get right. 91mobiles’ reviewer described the buds as “one-size-fits-all”, found them comfortable for long sessions and said the fit stayed secure during runs and workouts. Ear shapes vary, so your experience may differ, but this is the area where the ProClip is strongest.
If you wear glasses, a helmet or earrings on the outer ear, think about where the clip will sit before buying, as neither boAt nor the review we read covers these cases.
Sound: what to expect from open-ear audio
boAt says the 12mm drivers are tuned for detailed mids and clear highs. 91mobiles found the default Signature Sound mode fairly balanced with a slight lean towards vocals, which suits podcasts, videos and calls. Its reviewer noted that the Bass Boost mode adds some lift but cannot match the punch of sealed in-ear buds, and that the soundstage is less immersive.
This matches what you would expect from any open-ear design, so it is worth deciding up front what you listen to. Podcasts, audiobooks, YouTube and light background music are a good fit. Bass-heavy genres, and anything you want to hear in detail on a noisy road, are not.
Private Mode and sound leakage
boAt promotes a Private Mode that it says prevents sound from escaping. 91mobiles reported that at maximum volume people nearby could faintly hear audio, and that the app’s Private EQ mode reduced leakage by pulling back the mids. In a quiet library or office, keep the volume moderate and use Private Mode, rather than assuming zero leakage.
Battery and charging
The 52-hour figure is for the boAt Airdopes ProClip plus case combined, and boAt’s page says it is measured at 60% volume. boAt lists 50mAh cells in each earbud and a 500mAh case. A 10-minute ASAP Charge is claimed to give 200 minutes of playback.
91mobiles’ review gives a useful real-world reference. Over five days of four to five hours of daily listening, with gym sessions at high volume and some calls, its unit still had about 40% charge left. The reviewer felt the claimed figure is achievable at around 50 to 60% volume. Open-ear buds are often played louder than in-ear buds in noisy places, so expect less if you keep the volume high.
Calls, app and connectivity
boAt lists AI-powered environmental noise cancellation for calls, which is meant to cut background noise such as wind and traffic from your voice. This is not active noise cancellation for your music. 91mobiles found calls reliable in quiet settings but said voice clarity still needs improvement, so heavy callers should keep that in mind.
The boAt Hearables app, according to the Amazon.in listing, shows battery and pairing status, lets you adjust the sound, customise touch controls and run diagnostics. 91mobiles confirmed EQ customisation, touch-control remapping, a find-my-earbuds feature and diagnostics, but noted the app was slow to start and connect and showed earbud battery but not case battery.
Multipoint connection to two devices is one of the listed features. However, 91mobiles reported that multipoint did not work as advertised in its testing with several device combinations, and suggested a firmware update might fix it. If switching between a laptop and a phone is essential for you, check for newer firmware or reviews before relying on it. The 55ms BEAST Mode is aimed at casual gaming and video, and 91mobiles reported no noticeable lag.

- Walkers and gym users who need to stay aware of their surroundings

Other open-ear options to compare
These are named for comparison only, using facts from their own Amazon.in listings:
- Noise Air Clips 2: a clip-on open-ear design with a 12mm driver, dual-device pairing, ENC and Bluetooth 5.3. Noise claims 6.5 hours per charge and 40 hours with the case.
- Noise Alt Clip (2026): another clip-on open-ear model, listing Hi-Res audio with LHDC, quad-mic ENC, app support, Bluetooth 6.0 and up to 28 hours of playtime. Worth a look if codec support and a higher mic count matter more than total battery.
- Noise Alt Buds Open (2026): an open-ear design that rests outside the ear rather than clipping on, with LHDC, quad-mic ENC, app support, Bluetooth 6.0 and up to 35 hours of playtime.

What to check before you buy

- Colour: our link is for Velvet Wine. Satin White and Silk Grey are sold as separate options, so confirm the colour on the listing.
- Box contents: boAt lists the earbuds, a Type-C cable, a Smart Guide and a silicone cover. boAt’s list does not include a power adapter.
- Warranty: Amazon.in and boAt’s FAQ say 1 year. boAt’s spec section also mentions 3 extra months for purchases from 15 April 2025 with a valid serial number. Ask boAt support which applies and keep your invoice.
- Firmware: update through the boAt Hearables app after pairing, especially if you plan to use multipoint.
- Water: IPX4 covers sweat and splashes. Wipe the buds dry after workouts and do not rinse them.
- Volume: open-ear designs tempt you to turn the volume up in noisy places. Move somewhere quieter rather than pushing the volume to the limit.
Once you have confirmed the colour, see the Airdopes ProClip in Velvet Wine on Amazon.in.
Frequently asked questions
Are the boAt Airdopes ProClip bone conduction earphones?
No. boAt says they use air conduction: a small speaker sits outside the ear canal and directs sound into it. Bone conduction headphones work by vibrating against the bones of your head instead.
Do the Airdopes ProClip have noise cancellation?
There is no active noise cancellation for music. The listed environmental noise cancellation is for calls, reducing background noise picked up by the microphones.
How long does the ProClip battery last?
boAt claims up to 52 hours with the case at 60% volume, and 200 minutes from a 10-minute charge. 91mobiles had about 40% left after five days of four to five hours of daily use.
Can people around me hear my music?
At high volume, a little. 91mobiles reported faint leakage at maximum volume, which the app’s Private EQ mode reduced.
Are they good for running and the gym?
91mobiles found the fit secure during runs and workouts, and the IPX4 rating covers sweat and splashes. Wipe them dry after use.
Final thoughts
The boAt Airdopes ProClip make sense if comfort and awareness matter more to you than bass or isolation. The light 4.6g clip-on buds, the long battery claim and an app with EQ and Private Mode are real strengths, while weaker bass, IPX4 and the multipoint issue 91mobiles reported are the compromises. If an open-ear design suits your day, check the boAt Airdopes ProClip (Velvet Wine) listing on Amazon.in for the current price.
